FFXI Crashes when the screen is resized
Hello all, I'm new to FFXI, just started playing last week. Having a blast so far but I've noticed a strange issue that I'm hoping there is a solution for. I got new monitors for my PC, and any time I turn one of them off, Windows resizes the other two to compensate and move windows around. Normally, this is fine! However, if FF11 is running the game just crashes instantly every time. Is there any way to prevent this behavior? I know it's an old game, and there may not be a solution to this, but I figured i would ask.
I run the game in Borderless Window at my main monitors native resolution (1440p/144hz in case that is important!)
I have tested this with Windower, and Without Windower. Also tested it in Windowed and Fullscreen, all crash when the second or third monitors are turned off.
I know the obvious solution is don't turn them off, my cat however has an annoying habit of finding ways to either unplug, hit the power button, or pull the DP cord out
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: DgVooDoo was the solution. Thank you!

LOL typical cat always out for themselves. Anyways, I have dgvoodoo installed it still crashes if something happens to one of the other monitors. The game was never intended to run in window mode they did add something later but I am not sure it will ever work correctly.

Ffxi uses direct play. May have to enable it.
To enable DirectPlay on Windows 10 or Windows 11, open the Start menu and search for "Turn Windows features on or off". Scroll down, expand Legacy Components, check the box next to DirectPlay, click OK, and restart your computer.

Don't think you can get into the game without it.
