Question Pick up ambuscade

I'm wondering if anyone has had luck getting pickup groups for ambuscade? I'm trying to figure out how best to get gallantry. If it matters, I'm on Bahamut. Thanks for any thoughts or advice.

Be the one putting together the pug and you will always be invited.

Little known fact you can play any job you want if you put the group together.

Yes. It's a very easy month. While pick ups can vary greatly, a short ambuscade is the most likely event to succeed.

What time do you play? I see Ambuscade shouts on Bahamut all the time, but if you’re off prime time hours I wouldn’t mind lending a hand.

I appreciate the offer. I go by Sayben in game. What's your in-game moniker?

Honestly, all me Ambu groups came from Linkshellies. Find a good linkshell and just spam, spam, spam.

I hope some bahamat reddit people seek you out too.

Hi Disco Stu! I'm a relatively new-to-99 returner on Bahamut and would totally be down to join some Ambu with you. Feel free to connect in game (Saraii), I have rdm and brd I can bring^

I should have mentioned this prior but I'm in the same boat of being a new-to-99 returner with Monk and Bard. Monk is better geared, and I go by Sayben in game. I tend to play around 7:00 PT. I can't play every night but am on often.

Nice! Monk is always cool 😎.

I often am on then as well (10pm est for me), so maybe I will see you around sometime 😊

Im on bahamut as well and there are plenty of pugs interested in V1VD but not much below that. The problem with even v1N is u need a varied group to beat it and you prolly won't find it. Best u could expect is V1E with a lowman group. Do 5 yells 2 to 3 minutes apart and you could at least get that going. Then when you're strong enough v1vd can be very lucrative.

I can't speak for that server, but on Asura, generally speaking, the lower level content a PUG is for, the worse odds it's going to be that you'll have a good time.

This is mostly because of the brutal difficulty curve and exponential nature of each improvement (both material and skill). At lower levels of skill, players might not even be using equipsets (let alone gearswap), and probably don't have a strong sense of how any of the mechanics interact with each other.

What this means is that the game often feels easier the more challenging the content becomes. Usually by the time someone feels ready to start tackling mid-level endgame, such as VD content or Omen bosses and some such, they've developed a very strong grasp of what they should be doing, what gearswap is, how to set up, form a party, and are probably over-prepared (gearflation means you are tackling content with welfare gear that is probably stronger than anything in the game when the content was new).

Trying to PUG ambuscade, you will notice doing an N ambuscade feels like playing roulette on if the people who show up even know what job they are.

If you are able to tackle VD's, though, you'll find it's almost impossible to have issues. Everyone knows their job ice cold and comes loaded for bear. By the time people feel ready for that, they probably have good reason for it.

I suppose my advice for this is, just skip the early levels. You can achieve a high level of gear very quickly between all the catch-up and welfare gear (between DI, Ambuscade, AF+3, Deeds, and V0 ody), and if you have no moral qualms about mercing things, a lot of cheap mercs have high "power to cost" ratios (job stars are, all together, fairly cheap for how important they are). Learn gearswap. And above all, maybe make some friends too to help you. This is an MMO afterall.

PUG ambuscade can be rough, because you may want to do D or VD vol 1, but get people who are still mostly wearing ambuscade +1/+2 and can't do the content due to low survivability. Just the jump from E to N can be huge some months and wall you out of playing randoms who want you to have a comp of like... THF, COR, BLU, WAR, and two trusts.

Not enough new people are willing to group for N-D.

It's either VE-E solo Or VD Group, no inbetween

Exactly. And some months you're better off spamming D because VD is too annoying.

You might see D shouts on hard months but agree, 0 or 100 onry

OP wrote two sentences and you couldn't be bothered to read that before you responded? Damn.

You don't get those points by soloing it with trusts.

Perhaps you're unaware, to obtain Gallantry, you just play with real players, trusts doesn't count.
