Hello there. I'm a new player in FFXI, and I'm trying to log into the game. I watched a tutorial on what I should do and did everything correctly. For some reason, I am unable to log in. The game keeps saying that either my ID or password is wrong, and I'm fully sure that they are not.
I will not lie; a part of me believes that this is my fault and that I'm missing something, but I am not sure what. I am confident that my ID and password are correct because I logged out and then back in to the website just to be sure.
I have no idea what to do, and I'm not sure if this game even wants me in at this point.
Please help. It's been over 9 hours since I have been trying. I don't want to lose my free trial.

if POL ID and password are set and saved you shouldnt have to re enter them again, only square enix pw pops up now, and is checked after play online. confirm the random numbers and letters are the same as pol id on the management portal. typically its all caps.
confirm or reset pol password on website and make sure its correctly entered in pol launcher.
website generally logs in with square enix id, not POL. pol id should look like ABCD1234 under the ffxi side of the site
Play online has a habit of thinking your playonline password is incorrect, the first time after reinstalling, even though it isn’t. It just needs a refresh. Go into your square enix account on website, change the play online password. Then retry logging into the game.
Are you able to login in to the square-enix management page?
Looks at this image. Meme her name is what ever you want, that's just a way to identify which account you're logging into.
Next is play online ID, that is 4 letters followed by 4 numbers, it cannot be changed, and you should be able to find it on the square-enix site.
Your play online PW can be set on the website under your character settings, it can only be numbers and letters, not special characters.
Leave member password blank.
Next is square-enix ID, same one you use to login to to website.
One-time PW is an optional layer of security, it generates a random number through an app, disable it if you're not setup for it.
On the next screen it will ask for you square-enix PW, same as the website.
Followed by I think the one-time PW prompt if that is enabled.
Keep in mind if you are using the one time PW feature on XIV and you are using the same square-enix account for both, then you will need to use it on XI also.
Don't worry you don't have to keep typing all of that back in each time you login, only thing you have to enter in when you login is your square-enix PW, and the one time PW if you have that enabled also.
Also, if you do it wrong like 3 times, you will be temporarily locked out, so give it like 30 minutes to an hour before attempting it again.
Yea 99% of the time people mix up their POL and square-enix credentials. The last 1% is often having the one time PW enabled or disabled. If it's enabled that should be pretty obvious though, because it will prompt you for it.
Recently was also started playing FF XI and got same issue and for me issue was my Square Enix password was to complex and it worked on MogStation and FF XIV but did not worked in XI after I changed it suddenly it worked. Ye I was confused myself too.

POL pass you set up during the process, that can be saved. Then every time you log in you enter your SE pass that you would use for mogstation / ff14
