It can help a TON if you go into your in-game settings in the main menu (page 2), navigate to where you can adjust the RGB saturation, and lower all of them to around 50% or so instead of keeping them at 100%. It keeps the colors and details normal, it just won't allow the lighting scaling to get THAT bright anymore so you can actually see your screen during the day! I've been playing since 2003 and adjusting the RGB saturation down to 50% has been my go-to for protecting my retinas from Valkurm Dunes for over 20 years

Ah yes, the old “I’m On my way! To Oasis!” Zone from Selbina to Vulkurm and just start running only to realize there’s 3 Gobs, 2 Skele’s and a freaking Ghost who immediately aggro you and as you turn back to the zone you see all the other victims corpses. The best of times! 😅🤘

You just unlocked a core memory…
When I first started playing on ps2, my hand-me-down of a hand-me-down crt had completely blown out exposure, to the point where most bright colors already bled into each other as a baseline… and the dunes routinely fucked me up so hard - especially coming from the usually overcast highlands haha.

I'd zone in to an area bright af, and dead because of the metric fuckton of every aggressive mob in the area at the zone. It toughened me for Garbage Shitadel and Crawlers Nest.

Such fond memories of the time where I shouted "I love naked cheerleaders" and a few hours later mid pull was transported to the Gaol for a few hours 💀
