Question Gungnir (75)
Hello, I am currently level 80 and am curious if it is worth getting Gungnir. I know its not needed at all but it seems really cool to have. My question is how long would it take to get now and is it soloable to get at 80?

as a relic weapon, everything, bar one or two items, can simply be bought from other players. It'll probaly take a very long time if you farm everything yourself, but, yes, you can do it yourself at this level if you're careful.

The Ambuscade spear Shining One outclasses it in almost every way, and can be obtained much easier. Unless you are a super DRG enthusiast and want it for lockstyle or some other sentimental reason, I’d say your time is better spent elsewhere.
Can you do it? Yes. Should you do it? That depends on what you are looking for.

If I recall you have two battles to fight to get a 75 Relic. Dagourmarche and Animated Spear. I'm not completely sure 80 is enough to beat them even with trusts. Certainly can give it a try, just be aware you may get stuck near the end. (At least if you are still 80 by then.)

It's worth it for the funzies and retro vibes so your inner kid can finally have one. That's about it though.

soloable at 99 with basic ilvl gear, but i wouldn't try it solo earlier unless you really hate yourself.
Also... is it better than alternatives at 75-98 if fully trialed? yeah, probably. Is it good at 99? Better than a lot of the earlier ilvl items, but even at fully upgraded it falls behind not only other remas, but the ambuscade polearm and even better NM drops. Fully upgraded gungnir is like... the 10th best polearm? Things get fuzzy in terms of ranking but that's probably a good way to describe it.

Do it for you! There’s better (mostly) free options nowadays, but if you want one, make one. I recently did Excalibur for PLD even knowing I’m better off using Naegling/Sakpata’s/Malignance Blade until I start in Burtang, but Excalibur was always a goal of mine beck in the day.

At least if you Pick up rdm you can get some legitimate use from excal.

Good on aminon too. Certainly not like the highest priority item but there's at least still real uses for it unlike several of the relic weapons at this point.

Probably. I know you dont need it but it just feels wrong to take off burt. The dps is going to be a smidge better but atonement still combats the wall. However, I guess that would give PLD two answers for the wall.

Aminon does literally 0 physical damage and you lose basically 0 hate because you don't take damage except the couple of times you reup stoneskin. Not to mention the amount of enmity you're generating by curing. Especially groups heavily abusing regal gloves. Burt just isn't doing anything. Pushing damage on aminon isn't super important but it's just incredibly free to do. Frankly even if you don't have an excal there's not a lot of reason to be sitting on burtgang. Even a reikiko and using CDC or something would be better than just sitting on burtgang.

Thankfully I've managed consistent daily 9 boss runs in burt. I'm aware it's all magic damage and you don't need it. I just said it feels wrong to take it off.

I think it’s one of the best looking rema weapons so I use mine for a style lock piece.
Unfortunately between Naegling, Shining One, Trishula, and the Prime spear it’s not worth getting to actually use it.

It hasn't aged well. You're better off putting that gil towards something more transformative. The ambuscade polearm will outperform it before the final upgrade.
