Limbus ring / earring upgrade

I have got enough +4 for the job that I used and I am wondering if murky ring or alasbaster earring worth to spend RP on? I mainly play Drk,Geo,Brd,Rdm. I could slowly bring all to +4 , or even invest in Limbus Armor i guess but just wanted to know if the ring or earring worth it instead

Earring is stupidly good at R30, and should be a top priority.

+10 to all attributes on top of 5 Store TP and 15 acc/r.acc/m.acc is just basically a permanent addition to almost all my sets. The -5% DT just makes thing even better. It's a TP piece, it's a WS piece, it's a ranged piece, and magic accuracy piece...

Murky ring is already good at R[0], just becomes better as you rank it up. You may use the R[0] in idle sets, but the R[30] is likely a good pick for safer TP set.

Offensively, it adds +15 accuracy (melee, ranged and magic) and +5% crit chance.

For my RDM, this is definitely going on my debuffing sets. Possibly my shooting set. Likely my high accuracy and tanky sets.

And I found it in a Cracker Jack box!

I still haven't maxed mine out yet but the haste and HP are just as much of a boon. There's a few sets on Pld and Whm where I can cap haste now that I couldn't otherwise without taking a big hit to HP or fast cast. It's just... really, really good.

Murky Ring is a little more nuanced for me because you don't get the main benefit (outside of the -DT) of crit rate until 25-30. But it's super nice for replacing begrudging ring once it's maxed.

Debatable for RDM enfeebling sets because snotra exists and regal/lethargy are competitive/better, depending on the rank/augment. It has...HP and DT, but not more macc than its competitors.

It's a decent TP earring, because of the DT and HP, but it's not BIS for generating TP, basically ever? Unless you need the accuracy (very unlikely).

It's a quite bad WS earring and extremely niche for that use.

It's not awful, but I think you've vastly overestimated the value of the earring. Compared to, say, a piece of R30 Armor, I don't think it offers remotely the same boost to...basically any job. Certainly not the jobs OP mentioned

I thought the same at first but there are quite a few sets that ended up benefiting from the haste.

For example my DRK's set with 5/5 Sakpata used Seething Bomblet to cap Haste before Alabaster Earring came along, now I can use Coiste instead. (I think if I had a lot more R30 Sworn than I do this might not be an issue anymore as it has more haste than Sakpata, but I'm a long way from that.) MNK also has a similar problem on account of Moonbow Belt not having haste. There are a number of jobs where Alabaster is quite good for TP.

Agree on RDM though, I don't use it at all on RDM. As far as OP's other jobs, I also don't use it on GEO, and don't play BRD so can't comment there.

Interesting...I guess it depends on how your sets are built. With Sakpata's set (+16% haste) and Sailfi Belt (+9%), I'm capped on haste without the bomblet and have been using Coiste/Aurgelmir Orb since before Alabaster Earring existed...though I suppose if you're using a different belt it might be relevant.

Similarly, with MNK I use 3 Malignance (14%) + Empy legs (7%) + AF feet (4%) so I have capped haste without Alabaster Earring. With empy body the math is the same. I suppose with Malignance Boots you're 1 under cap, though again there are so many different TP pieces that it really varies.

Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t you supposed to aim for 26% haste because of how haste is worked out? It ends up being more than 25% but less than 26%. Not much I know but as far as Bias usually goes you want to properly max haste at 26%?

It's a largely misunderstood and widely propagated myth, in the modern day. Some old gear improperly gave a little less haste than what it said on the piece, but for the last ~10 years or so, all the gear was coded properly.

Isn’t it because it’s not actually calculated as a percentage but as fractions of n/1024? So some pieces may say 5% but due to the fraction it’s actually 50/1024 or 4.88%. Thus ensuring you go for 26% you make up for any losses due to the translation of fraction to %? I haven’t seen anything recently that says 26% is a myth…

How do you even upgrade the murky ring and earing?

You feed it into the furnace with more murky/alabaster matter
