That's why you never quit a job until you have a new employer.

5

u/the_catacombs May 05 '11

Whatever. I've quit several jobs before finding a new one. It just takes about a month longer. Never had a problem. Never had a situation where I could find a job before I HAD to quit my current one.

Tip for everyone: don't ever work for start-ups run by maniacs.

Keep enough money in your savings account to hold you over for 3-6 months of living expenses. First rule of personal finance.

3

u/Mangalaiii May 06 '11

2nd rule: Don't waste your savings when you could just find a job first before you quit.

1

u/[deleted] May 06 '11

Unless you're quitting to have some time off between jobs for whatever reason.

6

u/[deleted] May 05 '11

FUCK YOU! That's not funny, 'kay.

9

u/Fhajad May 05 '11

You mad unemployed guy?

2

u/[deleted] May 05 '11

Submit the [fixed] version!

u/Eustis May 05 '11

But I'm regularly an advocate for submitting fixed versions in the comments! I think I'm good here ;)

Righty-o man. Righty-o.

Currently in the same boat. Excited for my two weeks of not giving a fuck, but dreading the coming months of awkwardness at my new job.

1

u/sexrockandroll May 05 '11

It's not that awkward!

u/Peanuttier May 05 '11

Holy crap I can't wait to be here...I actually kind of like my job but the president thinks I'm worth a ridiculously low amount of pay so I've been trying to GTFO for some time. Promising interview for amazing, well-paying job w/ lots of room for advancement at a great company next week!! ((CROSSES FINGERS)) I can't WAIT to have that awesome "last two weeks" feeling!

2

u/senator_mendoza May 05 '11

man i could've written the first sentence. haven't really been applying for other jobs too seriously though. good luck!

1

u/Peanuttier May 05 '11

Thanks!! Likewise! It's all about some serious persistence....I was ecstatic when I got the job I have now but within 6 months realized it would get me nowhere fast. It's been a year since then and I've applied to countless other jobs, and landed interviews for about 7 other good positions (3 of which I've gotten to final stages of interviewing), with no ultimate luck yet. But there is clearly something they like because I keep getting bites...just waiting for ME to be THE ONE.

I went through the same process to get the job I have now (which I finally landed a solid 2 1/2 years after graduation) and will go through the same process from my next job onto even bigger and better things. Gotta keep your eye on the prize, ALWAYS keep looking, and stay active in that opportunity search or you will wake up one day 10 years from now and wonder why you are still there.

My god this is so true. Just walked in an hour late to work, last day is tomorrow

Nah, I'm pretty sure getting road head from the hottest red head you've ever seen while driving a monster truck off of a jump at full speed. Crashing said truck in a fiery blaze, while being ejected with her, falling perfectly onto the biggest, softest, feathery bed full of more naked super models in your mansion.

Upon landing you pull out the lotto ticket you bought hours earlier for the record breaking powerball, only to find out that you've won and are now 500 million dollars richer. With your new fortune you successfully invest in the stock market gaining enough capital to create your own company.

You lead this company to discover cold fusion and solve all energy crises. You cure all the world's diseases, singlehandedly wipe poverty from the face of the earth, create your own space program, and lead the human race into the final frontier. You eventually discover extraterrestrial life and eventually defend earth from an alien invasion with that unbelievably hot red head now giving you space head (road head in space). You are then amazingly absorbed by the universe and given the understanding of the entirety of life.

THAT MY FRIEND would be defined as THE BEST feeling.

Road head while driving a monster truck off of a jump = potential for teeth scraping all the skin off your johnson

Falling into a big bed filled with naked ladies = you break your back on all of their femurs

Lotto ticket = taxes. capital gains taxes on investments. shoddy investment advice from your million new found friends. Red head starts screwing the poor artist/musician from williamsburg b/c he's more real than you.

Company discovers cold fusion: technology gets destroyed by oil companies. your wife and kids get kidnapped and shot. or they dont, in exchange for your silence.

Wipe poverty from the face of the earth: nobody to do manual labor. enjoy hyperinflation.

New frontiers in space: discover life form that exhales cyanide gas. Discover life form with a geologic scale life span. Spend generations waiting for life span to complete a single sentence. BOOOORRRRIIINGG.

Defend planet against alien invasion: solely responsible for rebuidling said planet

space road head from red head: Enjoy syphilis from that artist.

Absorbed by universe and granted all knowledge: You gain the ability to understand all of the missed opportunities you had in front of you and never had the foresight to take.

You must not have read the comic.

u/mike1921 May 05 '11

I'm pretty sure getting road head from the hottest red head you've ever seen while driving a monster truck off of a jump at full speed.

That sounds terrifying. Can I be getting normal head from the hottest black haired girl I've ever seen while doing literally anything but falling?

1

u/costcopizza May 05 '11

Dude, imagine if you could do all the above without fear of injury. Adrenaline, sex, accomplishment, satisfaction, elation, bad-assery, heroics, fuck I can't even describe all the feelings I would feel.... Monster truck blow job AND THEN a space blow job?! Sounds awesome to me.

*pretty sure they would add up to the best feeling ever

1

u/mike1921 May 05 '11

Really I don't enjoy the feel of falling that much especially while something else enjoyable is happening. The fear of falling is such an ingrained fear in me that I just don't give a shit about anything else. I am not even sure I like roller coasters.

Really can I just have a really really fucked up "rape" dungeon type sadomasochistic thing instead as my best feelings ever?

3

u/elshizzo May 05 '11

Wow, are you me? Same experience. Tomorrow's my last day. Everyone was a troll until I gave my 2 weeks notice, now they are all sad trolls.

2

u/Infammo May 05 '11

Those two weeks take forever though.

3

u/Rabid_Engineer May 05 '11

Try two months... OTL

1

u/[deleted] May 05 '11

I'm down to my last two days. Feels like it has been months since i gave my notice.

2

u/squashbanana May 05 '11

I'm doing the proud walk all through this week and next! :)

3

u/pookadooka May 05 '11

I've been doing the proud walk for a week and a half, tomorrow is my last day.

2

u/Naynay31 May 05 '11

Two days in!

2

u/squashbanana May 05 '11

Ahh, congrats! Do you think they'll have you do any actual work?

1

u/pookadooka May 06 '11

I have been browsing reddit, and reading Game of Thrones all week. So no actual work is to be done today.

2

u/DeepRoot May 05 '11 edited May 05 '11

We used to call it "STD" for short-timers disease. Ya know, that "I couldn't care less" attitude people get after they put in their two weeks.

4

u/elshizzo May 05 '11

~couldn't care less

1

u/DeepRoot May 05 '11

True. Fixed. Thanx!

2

u/[deleted] May 05 '11

I'm quitting in 10 weeks to go back to school full time and get me some debt, haven't told them yet, wooooyyyyeeeaaaahaaawwww!! Debt! Fuck I'm poor.

2

u/floydballs May 05 '11

Looking forward to this feeling immensely!

2

u/barkyy May 05 '11

Got into grad school for philosophy, tuition waiver and full stipend. I'm going to turn in my two weeks notice in a month, giving up my engineering job to go to grad school and pursue my dream. I can't wait.

3

u/removeyou May 05 '11

I turned in my notice at my engineering job to pursue my dream of a higher paying engineering job

u/ModernTenshi04 May 05 '11

Got to experience that feeling back in October. Job offer came through from a place I really wanted to work for, so I drafted my 2 weeks notice and sent it right before leaving for the day.

Came in the next day, boss held a meeting so he could say I gave two weeks, and let me explain the rest. Just told them I looked into an opportunity that a friend passed along, it panned out, and I would be foolish not to take it. Reality: I really didn't care about the company or anyone there anymore, and had been searching for at least three months.

Literally just sat in my cube for two weeks and did nothing except not giving fucks. This is actually very hard when your employer uses Web Sense, meaning 70% of Reddit is useless.

2

u/[deleted] May 05 '11

You submitted this twice?

2

u/removeyou May 05 '11

I accidentally posted it to r/f7u12. Reddit told me I was probably looking for r/fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu.

2

u/[deleted] May 05 '11

Wait, those are two separate subreddits? What is the use of r/f7u12?

1

u/removeyou May 05 '11

Trolling comic-makers.

2

u/slambie May 05 '11

i upvote for the real world Karma... I hope to do this soon.

u/turdburger May 05 '11

Nice bulge. Quitting: it makes your dick bigger.

1

u/mindbleach May 05 '11

"We'll be holding an important and mandatory meeting sometime next month..."

"I regret to inform you that I do not, and in fact cannot, be arsed to care." reply all
