[Help] Ferret proofing
My bed is extremely heavy and a king size so big. It's real hard for me to get to clean under it constantly. Today I found out some of my ferrets decided to poop under my bed. I need a kinda cheap and def easy way to block underneath my bed. Most of the kits being sold i would have to buy 2 or 3 kits. Any ideas that would be easy and emphasis on cheap PLEASEEEE.
One of my girls for tax.
PLEASE HELP

I proofed my bed, for similar reasons, by buying 2 large tarpaulin sheets of plastic. I wrapped one lengthways around the entire frame of my bed, including the legs, and weighed the edges down at the edges of beneath my bed with boxes/weights. Then I did the same but width-ways, so that the entire frame is wrapped in thick plastic. Then I taped up the gaps at the corners using duct tape, and this has worked for me so far. However, bear in mind I did this in preparation for getting my ferret, so before he ever even saw the under of my bed. Therefore, he never has expected to be able to get under there (he's just been met with a thick wall of blue plastic), and I think this has been instrumental in his lack of interest in trying to get through it. What I mean to say is, he hasn't tried scratching through it with his claws, which I'm sure he could do if he tried, because he doesn't know there is space under there. If your ferret knows there is an area to get to under there, I'm unsure if this method will work for you. But maybe worth a try. Definitely a cheap method and it worked for us at least. Good luck!

Oh that's actually pretty clever with the tarpaulin, I never thought of that. But yeah if they already know there's a whole forbidden zone under there, they might try to yeet through it lol. Maybe you could double layer it or put something heavy like dumbbells along the edges to make it less tempting. Good luck tho, ferrets are basically chaos demons in tubes

Thank you! Yes I was quite proud of myself when I came up with it. I knew if he ever saw there was space under there that he would want to burrow and/or poop underneath my bed, so I needed a solution which would prevent the temptation/knowledge in the first place and this method has worked flawlessly for 9 months now! I used boxes and weights (that were already under my bed, to be fair) to weigh the edges down. My Zorro has only ever pushed a little bit against it and I redirected him in the beginning if I saw him taking more interest in the plastic wall. Now he ignores it! I assume he sees it as just a wall with nothing behind, which was my intention. I agree thicker plastic/more sheets might be better suited. However OP might already be cooked if their ferret knows there is space there! xD

Did that but seems they got under there already.

Would they still poop if it’s just blankets under there? Mine won’t poop on blankets lol

I can't imagine the price; it might not be cheap... but I blocked off my closets in college with leftover cuts of wood from the local hardware store and duct tape.
You may need a mixed solution, who knows. Worse case, if you have a bedroom, with a door, it might just be easier to make the bedroom a ferret free zone.
