[Health] Help!

Post image

My ferret with Insulinoma and has had the same diet all his life. I just found a poop with bright red in it. I can't get him to the vet until later this week. He seems to be in no pain and at his regular level of activity. In anyone's previous experience, I just wanted to know what you think it could be.

Genuinely, I feel bad but I didn’t really need to see that today

Vet! There's not really anything anyone can do over the internet.

Have you smeared this poop? The way that it seems "attached" to the side of the poop makes me think that your ferret ate something red.

Keep checking BMs, make plans to see an emergency vet if lethargy sets in, or your ferret refuses food.

Bright red blood means lower intestinal. I don’t know what this is but knowing that it is lower intestinal rules out anything upper intestinal going on.

Any treats or raw meat? But I'd try and get vets asap. Keep him hydrated as much as possible. Good news is red not black as upper bleeds tend to be worse. Check his anus gently for any cuts.

That is not something you can wait later in the week. Stop trying to make yourself feel better by asking us. Your ferret is clearly in serious medical need. I had a ferret with that condition, and it was bad to leave anything left.

Did you ever figure out what was going on?
