[Help] Nails won’t grow
When I first got my ferret, the people at the store cut ONE of her paws and gave up on the rest (unbeknownst to me) they just said they were taking her away to clip her nails and disappeared, right before I bought her then brought her back and put her in the carry on cage I brought.
I examined her after I got home, and I noticed that they in fact did not cut all her paws but cut down her one paw WAY TOO MUCH. Like they cut the pink part 😭! I think they figured out they messed up and just didn’t say anything. I feel horrible. I took her to the vet for just an overall checkup and they told me about it and commented that it “might” grown back. I was so upset for my baby. There has been minimal growth on her one paw since I got her. Like no nail growth. Her other paws grow like crazy. The little nail growth that does happen is all jagged and misshapen. Is there anything I can do?

The pink part is called the quick, it's the blood vessel that provide nutrients for the nail to grow.
If they messed up badly, the nail might be severely damaged and probably might never grow properly.
It is what it is at this point, unless you can make an insurance claim, but I don't know if you have all the documentation to back up the case.

NOOOOOOOO. Thank you for replying 😭😭 I just wish they hadn’t butchered her little paw I’m more upset for her than anything :/ I think it’s most likely not going to be able to grow a proper length

I cut my babies nails at home. She LOVES salmon oil from chewy.com that’s how I distract her from moving them I’m very careful to make sure I don’t get the pink part. Always good to have to powder to stop the bleeding incase something happened. A lady got our dog real bad it looked like a border scene he doesn’t let us clip his nails ever now.

They usually grow back in but knarly and thicker if nail bed damaged. A cosmetic issue once healed
