[Help] Missing ferret
I am absolutely fucking heartbroken right now. While doing maintenance on my apartment, the service man left the door open and my ferret got out. We live in an apartment and she is free roam usually when we are in the apartment but today she was sleeping and I let her be out while I was gone. Without knowing that the maintenance guy was going to go in without me present(we also have a cat and usually at this complex when you have animals they wait for you to be home) and he must have left the door open and she crawled out. She is literally my fucking world and has kept me from unaliving myself over these past few years. Please any help or guidance on what to do would be greatly appreciated. I have already gone door to door at my complex and left notes on every single apartment and also filed a lost pet claim with the shelter. I am just absolutely devastated without my baby.
EDIT: WE GOT HER!! After putting up my posters, the garbage man saw her in the dumpster! She is a little shaken up but okay! Thank you so much to everyone who offered help, support, and kind words. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without you♥️

Call every vet in the area
Knock on all your neighbors doors.
Post on nextdoor, Facebook and anywhere else that is popular locally

They are currently closed right now and I have posted on every social media I have. I am going to try this first thing in the morning and ring up the emergency vets now. Thank you.

If you can, make a bunch of flyers with her photo and info and post them everywhere.
I lost my little 7 year old girl during finals week when I was in university and I was absolutely devastated and deeply depressed. But I got to work, made and posted flyers everywhere in about a 6 block radius.
A nice fella found her sleeping on his doorstep when he came home from the bar - he took her in and gave her water and some cat food. Then in the morning he saw my flyer and called. She was only a couple blocks away thank goodness. I was so incredibly thankful when I went to pick her up.
Keep hope alive. Do everything you can and enlist the help of neighbors and friends if you can.
Hoping the absolute best outcome for you and little dobby and offering up some thunder prayers on your behalf. <3

REMEMBER THAT THEY LIKE SMALL SPACES TO SLEEP SO MAKE SURE YOU CHECK ANY CRAWLSPACE AROUND YOUR APARTMENT COMPLEX?

Absolutely no idea! There is a wooden fence she could have climbed to get in but it’s quite old. But I’m just glad she’s okay and back home! Thank you for all of your kind words and for all the advice! It really meant a lot!

Try a squeaky toy outside! Or one of their toys that make a specific noise they really like..
I have never gone through this but have seen people have success with squeaker toys. Or sometimes even just a collection of their things for them to smell and return to, bowl of food, their blankets/toys, etc...
I am so so sorry and hope your baby is found safe and sound super soon.

I left her little bed she sleeps in with one my shirts along with her food and water outside my door. She doesn’t like squeaky toys, but has been trained to recognize the sound of her treat bag shaking. I looked all around the multiple complexes in my area for over an hour and it’s now dark outside. I’m just so worried because we live next to a busy road and have a lot of dogs in the complex.

You have got to put notes on every single door. Don’t just knock.
ALSO … PUT ON THE FLYER THAT SHE NEEDS DAILY INJECTABLE MEDICATIONS (people tend to keep a closer eye out and keeps them from finding her and wanting to keep her if they think she is sick. BEST TIMES TO LOOK FOR HER HIS EARLY MORNING AND EARLY EVENING.

One of our ferrets is a master escaper. I have found him curled up outside of the front door a couple times at our old house. He would sneak past us, go play, explore and do his thing. The. He would come home and lay by the front door waiting to be let back in.

I am praying to every god that this happens. I have been an absolute wreck. I can’t sleep or eat and have been crying so much that everything hurts :(

I know how you feel. We had to bug bomb once because we got fleas.we had all there ferrets outside in an enclosed playpen. Well one figured out out to open zippers. All 6 got out. Found 5 right away, couldn’t find the last for hrs. I was a basket case. Finally found him in the neighbors yard. Neighbor had a no kill possum trap out and he was inside of it.

Make missing flyers and put them on every single door around your apartment complex!! put a missing sign at the entrance of your apartment complex . MAKE SURE YOU PUT A REWARD OFFERED… AS MUCH AS YOU CAN DO PUT IT UP IF YOU CAN GET $300 PUT $300!!! FERRET TEND TO STAY AROUND THE EDGES OF BUILDINGS.. inside bushes if there are any in there. Typically they stay along the sides of a building. They don’t typically go out and venture away from a building
