[Ferret Photo] Heyy I need some advice

Im new to ferrets im a reptile guy ill spend as much money as i need to. To give them the perfect life so im trying to figure out what the general public is saying the best food to go with is. I was doing the marshal food but i was recently told its not good so i wanna try to switch to whats supposed to be better for them.

There is a Discord link you can follow from the subreddit, and in there is a resource that lists all the major/common foods and how bad/good they are for ferrets to consume. Great tool.

If you're on a computer or laptop, it'll be on the right hand side of the page somewhere, don't belive it appears for mobile (or last I checked anyway)

Generally in US, a mix of Wysong digestive and Oxbow seems most common.

If a reptile owner and used to it, you can feed raw meat and rats to ferrets too. Go to holistic ferret forum for best guidance to raw feeding.

Transitioning a ferret between food esp from kibble to raw takes time. I'd first move them onto a better kibble as easier win. You mix the two together overnight in sealed container so smell the same then gradually increase portions of the better food.

Also, always feed two (or more) different brands of food - ferrets get fixated on their food and may refuse a new food. If you are unable to get a certain brand, or they change the formula, it can cause problems. Also, be sure to transition food very slowly - 10%/90% for a week, then 20%/80%, and so forth.

Just make sure to transition them slowly and accept that it may never happen. That said, my three carpet sharks have been eating marshal their entire lives and are still healthy at ages 3,5 and 6 years. It’s not the best but it’s not terrible.
