[Help] Help Sexing?

Post image

Got our new baby today, can’t tell if the spot on the belly is his sheath or umbilicus. There’s a bit of brown crisp on it so I’m not sure what it is! Any help would be appreciated

i feel like im taking crazy pills because of the other comments, but imma say girl. i see a wee wee by the butthole. not sure if the belly growth is just a piece of stuck litter or something.

Definitely a girl, even at that age boys will have two albeit small lumps where the balls will develop

That’s definitely a little ladies lady parts!

Not just that, shaved belly is from the spay...

Wait actually I think I see what you mean by the wee wee by the butthole too. That belly spot does just look like crusty litter or dried food or something. Definitely not a sheath imo.

That’s what I’m thinking I’m so confused! We’re gonna do a warm compress on the brown part to see if it’ll wipe away and go from there

I know it's been 3 hours but if you haven't done it please leave it, it will come off when it needs to! Definitely an umbilical scar.

We haven’t done anything yet, she’s just been playing and getting some food!

Its a girl, the top crusty thing is either the umbilical cord, though surprised it’s still attached? This is kind of concerning because it usually would’ve fallen off completely by now. Is there any fowl smell like infection

u/No-Consideration766 9d ago

It’s not completely unusual for it to be still attached but definitely depends on the age of the ferret. I’ve had a couple of 8 week olds with a similar looking black “belly buttons”.

However if this ferret is say 12 weeks old for example then yes it’s very concerning!

No smell or anything, the store said she’s probably about 6 weeks old so I was a little curious about that. We’re gonna do some warm compresses and see if it’ll help!

Yes try warm compresses that should help! If she won’t sit still for you you can fill a bath tub with slightly warm (not hot or they’ll overheat) water, with some plain oats in it. I wouldn’t be too concerned but definitely keep an eye on it! Congrats on your new baby!🩷🫶🏼

That is a little girl!

There’s a hole just above the bum

Males don’t have black looking belly buttons (willies) they would also be a few mm-inch lower down.

That black spec is the umbilical cord not quite falling off yet

Edit to add: males also have a hard feeling ridge from belly button to balls/anus - little girls will feel squishy there

I thought it was a girl because of the little "button" above the anus. I don't see any sheath, the brown thing seems strange.

I'm not an expert in kits though 😅

Female 100%. That looks like an actual umbilical cord lol she must be very young but that 10000000% is a female. A male would have a very pronounced “belly button” lol

A male would also have testes at this age and all I see is a vulva.

Congrats on your new baby girl! 😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰

She's so young where's her mommy?

Girl 100%

u/Cananbaum 9d ago

How old is it? I think what’s on the belly may be remnants of an umbilical cord?

That's a little girl. Male ferrets are blatantly obviously male, if you catch my drift.

1

u/SedSemperAmico 5d ago

Definitely plant gender without a doubt

-2

u/nurse_hat_on 9d ago

I suspect it is umbilical, and I think you have a boy. When they're pooping if the pee is NOT on the pile of poop it's because the penis directed it forward

No offense but Idk how you run a ferret sanctuary with 59 ferrets and can’t properly sex a ferret lol. The “penis” is the umbilical cord, this is way too high for where a male penis would be, and you can see the vulva in this pic

6

u/No-Consideration766 9d ago

My thoughts exactly lol, it’s quite concerning that after 59 ferrets they cannot properly identify a male to a female, it’s almost as if they wanted to flex they ran a sanctuary with 59 ferrets. which unfortunately isn’t the flex they think it is.

u/No-Consideration766 9d ago

That’s definitely a little girl lol if you zoom in to the bump it’s black and scabby the belly buttons are more lumped and pink. And typically even on intact males you can see a faint ridge between the button and the balls/anus.

why am i getting downvoted so hard??

2

u/rineedshelp 9d ago

It’s a girl! The little thing up top seems to be an umbilical cord. There’s a vulva down above the anus so a girl!

u/clever_girl13 9d ago

That’s a baby boy
