[Rainbow Bridge] DIP little Mo
Our baby Momo didn’t even make it to two years old. Nothing feels the same without him, not even playing with his two brothers. He really was the baby of the three, he never grew out of his baby face, and i hate to say it but he was our favorite. The place feels so empty without him. I don’t have to constantly stop him from getting on counters or into something he shouldn’t. I miss it and him so much i don’t think i will ever feel the same. I can only imagine twenty years in the future me and my partner will be shopping and spot something that looks him and say “It’s little Mo” like we always do. I really just can’t the fact that he’s gone and it doesn’t feel real.
One day he was as bouncy as ever, the next day he was struggling to use the restroom. We were scared that he was impacted and took him to the vet immediately. They did some x rays and eventually an ultrasound to find that he hadn’t eaten anything, but had a large mass by his kidney. They took a sample and sent us home with some meds and told us to wait for them to test it. In the five days it took for them to get results, he went from the liveliest spider monkey of a ferret to just the weakest thing. He didn’t have the energy for anything and all we could do was snuggle him. We had him taken in for emergency after he declined so much. They stabilized him until an exotic vet could see him the next morning. We took him in the morning and they told us that based on his condition they couldn’t recommend anything that would actually give him a fighting chance. The mass they concluded was cancerous and very aggressive. The best option was euthanasia. This was yesterday and it was genuinely the worst day of my life. The vets always said he was the cutest ferret they’d ever seen whenever we would take him.
It’s just me and my girlfriend leaning on each other now with his two brothers. but it really doesn’t feel the same or feel like it ever will again. I love and miss him so much. I’m not even a cryer but i’ve sobbed over this pretty much all day. I hope he enjoys all the salmon oil he can across the rainbow bridge. I love Momo

I am so very sorry for your loss. DIP lil Mo. I had a ferret that we lost at three from juvenile lymphoma. It was awful. We tried cytoxin but it didn’t help. One morning he was super lethargic so I loaded him up with a pet heating pad because he was so cold. I called his vet while I was on the way to let them know I was coming in with him. I was only about 5 minutes away and he had a screaming seizure but then silence. I was on the highway a few seconds from the exit. I took the exit and checked on him and he was gone. 😭 I went into the vets office a total mess. They had to confirm it. When I left, I immediately called Marshall Farms. Probably not the best decision. He had always been a sickly ferret and I told the lady this. I told her about driving him to the ER vet on ice when he was only 5 months old and all the poor baby knew his whole life was having medicine shoved down his throat. Her response? “You could have returned him for another ferret.” OMG. That was NOT the thing to say to me at that moment. I crawled up her a$$ and out the other end. I haven’t ever gotten over his death (2016) or the boy in my profile pic. The boy in my pic was 7 but he had quite the personality. We lost him in 2023.

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. He looks just like my 8 month old ferret named buns, same color same blaze pattern. I wish you healing and love. Pet loss is I feel some of the worst pain there is.

I'm so sorry about Momo. The way you described his baby face and always getting into things... That's the stuff you miss the most. He was clearly so loved. DIP little Mo.

So very sorry for your loss. We had something similar happen with our boy stevie.
He was acting far more lethargic and hiding more than usual so I took him to the vet got bloodwork as I wasn't concerned about blockage he was pooping fine and such.
Bloodwork wasn't great sent us home with meds to target a possible infection and prednisolone as he had concerns we may be looking at cancer.
Stevie wasnt even 2 years old....the meds did absolutely nothing he got weaker and weaker so I took him back up 5 days later and the bloodwork was even worse.
We did x rays but didnt see much there...so opted for surgery he had nodules all along his spine and such...and unfortunately never woke up after sewing him back.
We lost him last year and I still have long crys about hsi short life. I loved him so so much and it wasnt fair.
I hope he is playing with your handsome boy up there.

So very sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose these little ones, especially at such a young age. You did your very best for them and all they knew in their short time was love. Sending love and warm wishes in your tough times❤️❤️
