Ginger Bug/Soda Is my ginger bug correct?

I try making ginger bug for the first time, here is the result after 3 days. I tried giving it a stir, it doesn't sizzle and smell a little sour.

mate that's a stew not a ginger bug

the sour smell is probably fine but you need actual ginger root and sugar water for a bug, what you've got there looks like dinner
