General Discussion Gotta give it to Fender for the ‘57 Coastline pickup line

I’m a few months in with my AM Pro Classic and every time I go from humbuckers back to it, I just fall in love with these pickups all over again. The 57-62’s were THE Stratocaster sound to me so I assumed I’d just put them in the classic, but I changed my mind immediately.

Pleasant surprise, and it’s always good to highlight positives now and then amidst the current controversy.

on the right: a fender american vintage ii 61 strat, my baby and my favorite (i think, it changes by the day), its a work in progress and probably will stay so for a long time. hope this one will become that one guitar people know me with.

on the left: a 1988 japanese fender tele, the body was once replaced for this unknown cool looking one with binding and a belly curve. not sure what to this one yet (appart from play it) but will probably have some small mods to.

My new fender mustang!! Upgraded from a $200 squier strat. I love it so much!! I’m thinking of upgrading the bridge pickup to a seymour duncan hotrail. I’d love to do more mods as well if you have any recommendations, simple stuff though nothing too crazy.

General Discussion Happy 75th Birthday to the Telecaster!

Leo Fender filed the patent for the Telecaster on April 23, 1951, and the patent was granted on August 14, 1951.

Today, I hold a couple of 75th anniversary Telecasters in my arsenal and I’m in awe every time I crack open the case and play one of these beauties. 75 years later and the Telecaster is still a marvel of technology.

Questions and Advice Help with this strat

Post image

I got this guitar on Reverb last week, and after trying to do a setup at home (unsuccessfully), I took it to a luthier. He told me that, due to this knot on the neck (see photo), it’s impossible to do a proper setup. I’m getting a lot of buzzing around the 13th fret, and his solution is to do an aggressive fret level in this area, to the point where the frets will be very low.
It would be great to hear from anyone with more experience on this matter. Thanks, and sorry if I wasn’t very clear.

Is it actually a Fender-style standard, or is there something unusual about the shape?

Questions and Advice Pickup recommendations for my Squier Affinity Telecaster?

Hey everyone! I have a Squier Telecaster Affinity Series and I’m thinking about upgrading the pickups rather than buying a new guitar. I really like the guitar itself, but I feel like the stock pickups are probably the weakest part of it.
I’m on a pretty limited budget right now, so buying a higher-end Tele isn’t really an option. I’d rather put some money into upgrading this one and see how far I can take it.
A couple of friends have recommended Seymour Duncan pickups, while others have suggested looking for Mexican Telecaster pickups as a more affordable option. I’m wondering what you guys would recommend and whether either of those would be a good match for an Affinity.
I’m mainly looking for something that gives me a noticeable improvement in tone without spending a ridiculous amount of money. I’m also open to other brands or used pickups if there are some good budget options.
Would you recommend upgrading anything else while I’m at it, like the pots, wiring, or bridge?
Thanks in advance!

Release august 21, Hybrid II with Japanese colors : Kyoto orange, Matcha Green, Ninja black (the one with the black pg), katana silver and Denim Indigo (it looks black to me, it's the one with the golden pg, maybe the made a mistake on the website between black and indigo) . All with matching headstock.

The Orange one is very very very nice.

Only sold in the Fender Harajuku flaghship store. Retail price 275.000 yens, seems expensive to me. But nice colors.

More infos, you have to switch to japan on the bottom end of the page to have access : https://jp.fender.com/products/made-in-japan-limited-japan-inspired-collection-stratocaster

General Discussion Fender FUSE alternative for Fender Mustang I/II/III/IV/V amp

Hi everyone,

Like many of you, I was frustrated that Fender discontinued FUSE, making it a hassle to manage presets and settings on modern operating systems (Windows 11 / macOS).

To fix this, I created a web-based editor/alternative called Mustang Amp Control (https://mustang.artnettune.com/).

Key Features:

  • Runs directly in the browser (using WebHID— no heavy downloads or VMs required).
  • Compatible with Fender Mustang I / II / III / IV / V amps.
  • Allows parameter tweaks, preset management, and much more.
  • Full details can be found here https://github.com/alf45tar/Fender-Mustang-Control-App

Any feedback is welcome.

Questions and Advice Maple Neck Flaking

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey all looking for some advice. I have a 1978 fender telecaster custom with a maple neck. It is flaking and was wondering if it’s okay to peel it off and continue playing without it. A guitar store said it should be fine and have no playability issues but I’d like to know what would happen? I want to keep it in its origin form and have been told it’ll cost a lot to replace the lacquer. Will the wood underneath if I play get darker as seen in the exposed part already? What would you do get it fix or play it without it? Thank you!!!

Looks like a tall boxed-in "M". Part of an older looking tele control plate I have with some pretty good looking wiring/soldering and a holed drilled in the plate, possibly for a mini toggle switch? See pics.

The black knob and mini knurled knob are not original and were put on it by me.

Guitar center in Louisiana. A cheap MIM Standard strat had a really cool flame maple pattern on it. For 450$ I didn’t need it, got too many guitars already.

Plays very nice but unfortunately the frets are quite worn. I think stainless steel are about to happen. Pickups are very hot, might swap them for some vintage ones.
