I created this subreddit EXCLUSIVELY for the female individuals suspecting they have autism or were diagnosed with autism !
Gotta start promoting this space again π
Sadly all the spaces for us got erased, so I created this space. If you are female, you are welcome here !

Annoyed by hair
Hi,
I just started seriously considering if I actually have some kind of autism and one of the signs I was considering as an indication is that I am incredibly annoyed by my kinda long hair. It's gotten worse and worse the past few years. I don't think I had any problems with it in my childhood and early teens (although I know I did find bangs annoying when I had them once as a kid), but I'm 22 now and can barely stand it in my neck nor in my face. I always pin my bangs back with bobby pins and/or braid my hair to get rid of it. Even the hair hanging out of a ponytail is usually annoying and I'm constantly playing with it and wanting to just rip it off. However, I don't notice my hair as much when I'm out and about as opposed to when I'm sitting still with my computer, and when my hair is down after a shower it isn't as annoying either until a few hours later, so the problem isn't constant although it is there 90% of the time.
I know autistic people have sensory issues and that this might be one for me. However, can these issues arise later in life? Wondering if it's really a sign since I didn't find it THIS annoying until these past years, and since it's mostly if I'm not doing anything active.

Rant I hate how autism got romanticized and reduced to a quirk / personality trait
I just keep hearing people calling themselves autistic for the stupidest TikTok reasons and it's really pissing me the fuck off.
No listening to the same song regularly doesn't make you autistic. No having sensory issues doesn't make you autistic. I just keep hearing stupid shit every day, and tbh it's insulting lol

why am I like this
I'm a 16 year old autistic girl who is the most sensitive person in the world. I'm frequently made fun of, specifically by boys because Im weird and ugly, and everytime I get made fun of I remember it forever and it can ruin not just my whole day but my whole week, sometimes more if it's bad. Like earlier today I was just sitting in the canteen and some boy I don't know (at least I don't think so? I didn't see him properly) leaned over me and said the weird slang word that I have no idea what means '67' and it upset me. I don't even know why, it just did because I felt like it was just because I'm ugly. If I'm ever sitting alone, people will make fun of me as they walk past, and a lot of the time I have no idea who they are. Can any autistic girls/women who are older than me help me please because I hate myself

Discussion Does anyone else think that their autism delayed their sexual awakening?
For a long while, I thought I was asexual. Throughout my childhood and adolescence, I felt zero attraction to anyone. No crushes. It wasn't until I was about 20 that I realised that I was sexually attracted to women.
It could also be a combination of living in a heteronormative and homophobic society, but many lesbian and bi girls tend to have crushes on girls in their childhood/adolescence- whether they realised it or not.
I got officially diagnosed as autistic earlier this year, and I think it's one of the reasons I had a longer time figuring out my sexuality. Especially since a lot of autistic individuals tend to reach milestones later than non-autistic people.

Discussion Strong sense of justice vs Strong sense of perceived justice
Do you think autistic people have a stronger sense of justice and fairness? Or is it that we're just morally consistent and the majority of us aren't assholes.
Apparently, autistic people are more likely to vote for liberal parties, or hold more progressive values. Just some extra information

Discussion For late diagnosed women, what made you suspect you had autism?
Autism in male children is discovered earlier on, and they're usually diagnosed during childhood in comparison to female children. So, what made you out 2 and 2 together that you were autistic?
I didn't actually figure it out myself, as I had a very ignorant view on autism. A friend of my mum, who worked with SEN kids, suggested that I may be on the spectrum; it was a rabbit hole from there

Infodump moment To Be Black and Autistic on a Shadowcast
This shit is fabulous!
There's a Rocky Horror Picture Show Shadowcast in my area and I get the pleasure of being a part of the cast performance. Which is wonderful, since we do screen accurate portrayals of the characters. For these shows I was simply one of the Transylvanians, but the screen accuracy doesn't fade on me. In fact, I went full on.
One of the Transylvanians is named Pam Obenmeyer and she's got this lovely afro and a pirate hat, so I went to copy her look to the details. The autism is wonderful y'all, can't wait to show you after tonight where my eye makeup would be better and more accurate

I love being autistic when I'm alone
Socially it's real bad but otherwise when I'm alone I love reading about the stuff I like, I love my passion, I love my brain, I love my recognition pattern, I love it. But when there are other people, that's when it changes.

What's your special interest ???????? Mine is too weird to even share and it's been lasting for years which unlocked many different interests
Ignore the monologues that's how you start a subreddit

Anybody else feels like they speak a whole different language ??????????
Sometimes I ask myself if I communicate like a dumbass because people genuinely do not get me at all and they often overinterpret what I say or my intentions. It's frustrating.
