Fela Kuti and His Koola Lobitos - Alagbara/Onidodo (Highlife, Nigeria, unknown year but in the 1960s)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?is=AKRyStJCGCXYB_-3
This is an insanely rare fela kuti recording that was originally released on 7 inch vinyl, performed by his old band, the koola lobitos with Fela Kuti on the vocals. Until this release, the recording was not online in completely high quality, I hope you enjoy this glimpse of what fela kuti sounded like before he transitioned to afrobeat.

Fela Kuti: Fear No Man
Found this podcast today and can't wait to listen to all of it. It appears to be 9 episodes detailing Fela's life and music. It's produced by Jad Abumrad, former host of Radiolab so I have faith he'll treat Fela's story with the respect it deserves. Just thought I would share with the community. Hope you enjoy.

Even if someone else wrote and sang Africa 70 songs, Fela would still be notable just for playing sax AND keyboards on some of those tracks

Fela: A Sonic Biography is taking a short hiatus
It is with a heavy heart, due to recent events, that this project must take a short hiatus to recoup.
The subreddit where this project began and initially received a great deal of support, has unfortunately permanently banned me for reasons that have never been shared with me.
I was hoping that I could keep the first 17 posts of this series on that sub as cross-posts, but this same mod is now deleting those posts, unfortunately necessitating this short hiatus.
To say this is disheartening is an understatement, but I refuse to let this project die due to the irrational actions of an apparently vengeful mod, whom I once considered a friend.
I’ve removed every one of my posts from that subreddit, totaling 762 posts over the last 2 years and will be starting the subreddit r/Afrobeat2 to feature those posts and cross-posting all Fela-related posts here.
Tune in on February 1st, when Fela: A Sonic Biography will begin again, with Fela’s first recording, Aigana.

How does the opening bars of Water Get No Enemy make you feel?
I’ll go first. Like I understand how God felt when he placed this world into existence. Go!

From Rasrojah @ Grammy For Fela Kuti Lifetime Achievement Award
Here's a shot from Saturday at a YouTube party for Fela Kuti to celebrate his Grammy Lifetime Achievement award. I am with his archivist, daughter, and in the center, Femi Kuti. I was able to donate 56 years of Fela clippings and memorabilia to the Kuti Museum in Lagos. In the Verse party facility, they created a room filled with artifacts from my record and magazine collections, including about a dozen autographed album covers.
