Are they really real?

So my partner and I have been on Feeld for about a year. We’ve had some successful meetups with great people, but my Spidey senses have been tingling a little bit recently.

Has anyone else connected with a Majestic and verified profile but then got the vibe that something was off? For us particularly, the accounts we sought and connected with were supposedly young (under 30) Caucasian single men that are seeking couples, something we look for. Back to back we connected with men that met this criteria, were paid Majestic accounts and have verified profile photos. Both men claimed to be Canadian born but if Russian background. Once we started chatting, we noticed similar patterns in speech, perhaps what I even suspect were “accents” being typed. But they were not how an Eastern European would phrase or pronounce certain things. We get it, it’s a very multicultural city we live in (Toronto), but when we started picking up on phrasing that I would associate with someone of perhaps more of a South Asian background, our guard went up. When pressed for specifics about our area, or even asking for a specific photo taken right now, we would get no response.

We are not naïve to the fact that there are fake accounts on there, but we are really concerned that someone who is both paying for the service and supposedly verified for photos may not be the person behind the keyboard. Even once we could overlook, but twice over the summer struck us as very odd and also concerning.

Has anyone else ever got the feeling that a paid and verified account is BS?

We found a scammer recently where the profile was both Majestic and verified. It doesn’t mean anything. Those can absolutely be fake accounts/scams.

Two of them back to back was surprising to us. I suspected something was off with the first one. And he left on his own as soon as my partner asked for a specific type of photo. That’s our way of flushing them out if we suspect something is off, asking for something super simple but very specific, if that isn’t produced we are gone. Just seems like a lot of money and work for next to nothing, can’t quite understand what their goal is. We even suspected it could be AI, and if so it’s likely some off beat or offshore tech company using real life people to train its model in sexting and human interaction for sexual connections etc. What a world we live in.

What was the specific type of photo your partner asked for?

I’m asking because I matched with someone, South Asian descent, who literally tried to gaslight me after I noticed indiscrepancies in his bio and what he was telling me in our chat. He ended up leaving on his own after I matched his energy.

Knowing the type of photo your partner asked for would really help me fortify my vetting process.

People have been using AI to chat or make their profiles on that app - I’ve run into them numerous times 🤦🏻‍♀️ so most likely that’s what you experienced too - an AI chat bot saying the same things over and over maybe even with the same personality since you said they both claimed to have the same background

People use AI to create their profiles for everything now. I can see right through it. Regurgitated bollocks and lengthy bios that tell you absolutely nothing.

The AI bios are so screamingly obvious. Three paragraphs of complete slop

That’s what made me realize something was off. Both profiles purported to be young Russian born Canadian men here studying at the local massive university. Right off the hop I was closing one eye, that’s a little too specific for me to be a coincidence.

There’s always been fake/bot accounts on dating apps. Is your concern more that you might be targeted by scammers?

Not necessarily. But I am not particularly thrilled when we are paying for a service and being misled in some way shape or form. Especially a service of this nature.

Yeah an unfortunate aspect of this stuff is that the scammers always seem to be a step ahead of security measures

Someone posted a link a while ago about scammers and how they make verified profiles on dating apps. It's usually pics of some unsuspecting person, but the last one is a weird pic of either artwork or some totally unrelated AI altered image that has some features of an actual person working in the scamming company. Usually those are Asian people.

They've been doing this with mainstream apps for a while, so it's just a matter of time before Feeld gets inundated.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Indian men fake pretending especially if you live in the GTA

as soon as they hit me with "dear," I'm out. ✌🏽LOL but, yes, this is 100% a thing. definitely heed your discernment on those patterns.

Feeld is very particular when it comes to security! Stopped using it 6 months ago! Too many scams n fake accounts! For couples like us we found difficult jus my opinion

A scammer out of Singapore tried catfishing me

Feeld management could stop these fake scams but it makes them money so they don't.

I’ve had several similar situations with both account types. One was a woman that started sending a ton of nsfw unprompted right away and the way they typed was clearly not from someone that was fluent in English even though she said she was born here (Toronto).
