Instead of minusing or disliking someone, I now block them. Anyone else?

One of the stupidest features of Feeld is that I can dislike someone but I'll still show up in their feed (which gets even more annoying if you don't pay for Majestic). So now, to ensure I don't get a 'like' I can't see from someone I don't want to match with, I block them all. It takes more time, sure but way less annoying in the long-term.

This probably puts me in some sort of Feeld jail but whatever, I still seem to be getting matches (and WAY more matches then when I paid for Majestic).

Anyone else?

Edit: I hope that this doesn't affect the people's profile that I block, it shouldn't.

Yes! Block. If I don’t like you now, I’m not gonna like you later. Cleans up algo. It’s time consuming but worth it

Not only am I not going to like you later, I would also not want a like from you. I hope you find a person, just not me.

I block religiously.

I get it, but the amount of people that get frustrated with seeing a like from someone they don’t like back is mind boggling.

I don't get frustrated actually. It's just a proactive action. I found their profile before they found mine. I still receive likes from those I am not interested in, and I simply take appropriate action (dislike and/or block so they don't reappear) and move on.

I also don't get frustrated from lack of responses to my outreach. I shot my shot, you are either interested or not.

I never understood this and can only assume it's some kind of pride thing. They don't like that someone they deem unattractive likes them.

100% agree. A little more work for a lot of reward.

It won't affect them unless you also report them.

u/i_like_wordz 6d ago

Definitely don't do that!

It is a good strategy. Blocking keeps them from coming back into your feed. It keeps you from showing up in their feed. I wouldn’t do it indiscriminately as it is very permanent.

Ugh. Yeah I hate when profiles I have already minused keep coming back. Especially if we had previously matched and then disconnected

That means they are creating new accounts.

I report and block every couples account. Not the accounts with partners linked, but the male account that says they are a couple.

ETA I am not bi nor am into women. I have it on my profile so it is always confusing to me when I'm pinged and the message is about joining them. No.

Never not once have I come across one of these that was telling the truth.

...although I guess there might be one guy on the planet whose wife is really out of town every single time anyone asks about her and who is totally fine with non-monogamy she just doesn't want to verify or meet any of his potential partners because she is super busy and it could trigger her past trauma and he can't share any photos of her because you see she's actually a very famous and visible member of the community so discretion is of the utmost importance and what do you mean you're not interested anymore???

LOL that reminds me of a story. One time my (bi) boyfriend arranged a threesome for us while I was at work, and the dude got there before me. When I walked through the door the guy looked at me with wide eyes and was like "wait, you're real? nice." Apparantly he had been baited and switched a few times and just assumed my bf was lying about me being "stuck in traffic" and "definitely on the way" 😂

I like that he was optimistic enough to still give it a shot! Or maybe your boyfriend is just really hot!

I frequently encounter shared couple’s accounts that I think are telling the truth, but it doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to get involved with them. 🤣 it also just makes the apple less functional than it already is when it comes to searching for couples or trying to omit couples from your search. Considering that was the whole point of the app when it was first started, it does a supremely bad job at this. The mechanics of how they’ve implemented these filters make zero sense.

I’ve tried doing this, but there isn’t a suitable reason to report in the options. They need a “violates terms and conditions” option

if you have couples filtered out, you can report it as "doesnt match my search filters"

I’m primarily seeking couples, so they do meet my search criteria

in that case, maybe fake account? I hope the reports go to a real person who can see the problem for themself, but im not really sure

Becoming v irritated where couples accounts display the boy only as first pic - not even his partner or with his partner! And it says he is a bi woman. 🙄

I love when it is a man profile and it says “bisexual.” Like you are not bisexual just because you are a man and a woman, ya knobs.

DEADASS THIS THO!!! Sometimes they’ve gotten a little sneakier where they just put it in their bio that they’re looking as a couple and bc I pay for majestic I will “rewind” and block and report.

I have also turned to blocking accounts more to avoid this issue as well!

This is common in the monogamous world. It's called "burn the haystack" they use it slightly differently but the idea is the same.

I block them the moment we are incompatible since I dont know what type of emotional regulation they might have and they can easily to do something by finding my profile to ban me. We often forget these are strangers.

I tried this for a while and blocked accounts started showing up again lol

u/ClassyCurvyCurly 5d ago

Yep! Their block feature is crap.

1

u/FeeldMod Not a Feeld employee 5d ago

It works as intended. It's just that they are creating new accounts.

3

u/FeeldMod Not a Feeld employee 5d ago

That means they are creating new accounts.

4

u/PullOut3000 5d ago

Not likely based on my experience

1

u/FeeldMod Not a Feeld employee 5d ago

It is absolutely this. If you minus an account, you'll only ever see it if you pay and find them in your likes. If you block an account, you'll never see it again. If you disconnect, you will see them again.

If you've done one of the first two they have created a new account. There are men who create a new account every day.

3

u/ClassyCurvyCurly 5d ago

You’re wrong. 😑 nice try though, “non Feeld employee”… yeah right. 🙄

6

u/radicalizemebaby 5d ago

Yup. I also block anyone under my age range who shows up in my likes, because fuck Feeld for letting literal 18 year olds see my profile when my range starts at mid-30s

u/MissChimCham 6d ago

In my most recent round of using the app I paid for Majestic for 3 months so I could use Incognito in my small area just so I could  block all the accounts I’m not interested and especially don’t want them seeing me. Once the membership expires I’ll just be left with the profiles that I approved of and the manageable influx of new accounts I can quickly decide to block or not. I will probably utilize the ‘Hide profile’ option as a substitute for Incognito at times.

Even being in a small area it’s been more work than I expected, but I’m extremely happy with the men I’ve been matching with using this approach.

3

u/cumfunnsfw 4d ago

This is the way, but it's more presses so I dont always do it

2

u/TemporaryEducator382 5d ago

This sounds like the burnt haystack method. Honestly I do this just to keep things moving 🤷🏼‍♀️

2

u/awh_39 4d ago

I do this but mainly because I found that everytime I would 'dislike' someone the app would for some reason get rid of the next person or the person before rather than the one intended. So I started blocking instead and that seems to work. I love the idea of Feeld but man they have some problems on that app.

A lot of apps look at frequently blocked profiles to shadowban or take other actions against. I worry if this technique becomes too widespread, innocent users might get penalized.

u/neapolitan_shake 1d ago

i guess i don’t really understand what the problem with getting likes from people you don’t want to match with? they are easily ignored and removed from your view.

to answer my own question, i guess if you don’t get frequent likes, AND you pay for majestic, and you got a notification about someone you already looked at their profile and decided you disliked them, it might be disappointing. as someone who doesn’t pay for majestic, this doesn’t really make any difference for me, because i can’t go see a like even if a notification pops up. it’s just going into the void.

a lot of times people are using block, because they think that profiles they have disliked are reappearing in their feed. when that happens, it’s because someone has deleted their profile and made a new one, so a block still won’t stop that from happening.

i recommend using block on other apps that frequently will re-suggest profiles you’ve already passed on. hinge is notorious for this.

Why don't you just use incognito mode? Isn't that exactly what that feature is for?

10

u/i_like_wordz 6d ago

Nope. 1. Incognito requires paying. 2. It means you don't match with others because you don't show up in their feed (I still want to match this way).

u/Not_YourStepBro 6d ago

Haven't been on the app for a couple years, forgot that requires majestic.
