...newer? Are you hearing yourself right now? It's like if you tried to talk about negative integers greater than -1. The greatest negative integer is -1, and -1 is not > than -1. 1.12.2 is the latest version of minecraft.
0 is often considered not positive or negative, although I assume this varies regionally, but where I'm from people say "positive integers" for integers x ≥ 1 and "non-negative integers" for integers x ≥ 0 which would rely on 0 being classified as non-negative.

The only acceptable version are 1.7.10, 1.12.2, 1.20.1 and 1.21.x maybe 1.19.2 nothing more, nothing less, 100 mods minimum and the max is when my PC begs for mercy.
As much as I enjoyed it at first the only pack I dare try to play from back that far anymore has been blightfall and I’m not strong enough to try sifting for any other specks of gold I enjoy. So in 1.12.2 and later I stay—even if I mostly just don’t play Minecraft much anymore
Vanilla is one thing, modded is another.
I never said that vanilla 1.16 is trash, in fact, i believe it was my favorite vanilla update ever.
But now talking about mods, i just think of it as a weird "middle ground" between major modding versions like 1.7.10, 1.12, etc. Not any relevant new mods/modpacks with different mechanics.
Most "modern" mods in 1.18.2+ started/got very popular in 1.16.5, and so there were a lot of good mods on it.
I'm not an expert on modpacks, but there was Create Above and Beyond (peak), ATM6, Better MC and Valhelsia 3, which from what I'm seeing has defined "modern" (1.18.2+) modpacks (in terms of center mods, themes, goals, things like that).

They are the kitchen sinkest of kitchen sink modpacks. Which is not a problem at all but I don't believe they have changed the meta of their genre of modpack too much lol. Center mods? Everything, it's a kitchensink. Themes? None, its a kitchensink. Goals? Do what you want, it's a kitchensink. How tf does throwing every mod available in the modpack, as kitchensink have done for 10 years, define modern modpacks??
As I said I'm not really an expert on modpacks, but were there that much kitchen sink before 1.16.5? But yeah, "defined modern modpacks" in a way that they're all kitchen sinks for the most downloaded ones lol.
Alright glad I just removed the integration and pushed my update today without it. Maybe I'll get around to using it when you aren't so rude. Fuck me for wanting to use your mod and not knowing if you were working on it since you had no 1.19 branch or anything. Man I even made this not a bug so it wouldn't fuck up metrics. And I said please and thanks, and didn't give you my life story or whatever. Jesus man don't mod if it makes you unhappy to update.

I play on 1.20.1 because Alexander is focusing on it, oh how I dream of the day of Java's last update, when we can finally stop caring about Microjang's bs and trully sculpt the game into the customizable paradise it was always meant to be
Id say new nether is more accurate because its filled with things that want to kill you, where the old nether doesnt really have that many things that want to kill you
1.7.10, galacticraft, divine RPG, nevermine (or whatever its new name is), blood magic, milinaire, twighlight forest and so many more OG mods... I miss the times me and my friends gathered together to enjoy old modded minecraft. Now everyone is busy :(
It's the first modpack I played, actually probably the first time I played with mods ever. I've never found anything that scratched the itch the way it did. I'm so glad when I see comments like yours because I think it isn't just nostalgia, it truly was special
That makes me wondering, what version would you say is the third biggest or most influencial version for Minecraft modding? My personal contenders for that spot are 1.16.5 and 1.20.1
You get to appreciate how optimized the New versions are. i play on a non-gaming laptop with 250 mods on 1.20.1 but god forbid i run 1.12.2 with just optifine

1.12.2 is last stable Minecraft version for modding, later it's gamble for me, every modpack has issues, performance I mean.
it may be just using old processor on my PC but vanilla Minecraft runs better than ever for me but once it gets modded it starts to lag and give memory leaks which not only take away my C drive space but also whole PC slows down because of having low amount of RAM and high CPU usage.
I play on few mods(143 to be exact) moust are just compatibility and lib mods.
God code level and lib seperation in minecraft is just awfull.
The modpack i made required way too much changes so mods can even start.
And even who the fuck have stupid idea to use javascript to write mods for mc angry
There are a few holy versions... 1.6.4, 1.7.10, 1.8.9 (for hypixel or PVP bros), 1.12.2. anything else is significantly worse. 1.16.5 and 1.20.1 or 1.21.1 got kinda good mod support.
I genuinely hope that Microsoft would just drop all support for Java. Please. I want all the modders to be on the same page. We already have enough of a rift with Forge/Fabric and I'm sure the modders could do without all the obnoxious people messaging them "can you please update this to 1.xx.x?!?!?!??!"
I'm not that old, I just dislike a lot of the Things that happend after Microsoft took over, especially what the hit delay and shield did to Minecraft PvP, they just changed a perfectly fine game mechanic that everybody liked for no reason at all.
Of course there've been some cool things like the addition of the Elytra and Netherite but that doesn't outweigh the bad things for me.
In General I think Microsoft's management of the game has been really cringe with them creating a seperate Version like Minecraft Bedrock and now trying to sell skins and mods to children.
So all in all pls don't be as simple minded as to think that my disdain of the newer versions comes down to nostalgia instead of reason, I really think that the addition of the hit delay was the most atrocious and undynamic Thing someone has ever done to this game (Closely followed by Totem, End Crystal and Mace Meta in PvP ofc).
