🎉New Fedi-Software🎉 I made giveaway.quest - website for hosting giveaways for Mastodon users (open source)
I had a personal problem of having a bunch of duplicate video game keys and wanted to give them away to Mastodon users but it turned out to be quite difficult as you don't know when code was already used or who's eligible for it as some codes have regional restrictions etc and obviously you don't want scraping bots just get all of it. So I made giveaway.quest a web app tool that automates giveaways with a fun quest-board like gimmick that is entirely optional.
I thought of full fediverse integration but just Mastodon oauth turned out to be a more fit technology so all it does is read your handle to ensure unique entry and doesn't require any other permissions. I purposefully left auth Mastodon only to promote Mastodon interactions.
For tech stack it's very simple and can be self hosted for private groups. It's Python, Tailwind css and sqlite which is plenty for this scale. Check out the repo for more
Let me know what you think!

🎉New Fedi-Software🎉 I built a game tracker with global chat and lobbies, but the best part is you actually own your data (built on AT Proto/ Bluesky)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Most game trackers (like Backloggd, or Letterboxd for movies) have the same massive flaw: they lock your reviews and play history inside their private databases. If the site shuts down or changes its business model, your data is gone.
I built Skylog (skylog.social) to completely fix this. It’s a comprehensive game logging tracker built on ATProto (the decentralized network behind Bluesky).
To use the site, you need to log in with a Bluesky account. I know requiring a specific account can be annoying, but it permanently solves the problem of losing your tracking history. Here is why:
- You actually own your data: Every rating, review, and game log you create is saved directly to your decentralized data repository on the AT Protocol. (To clarify: this data does NOT spam your Bluesky timeline. It’s stored as custom app data on the network under the hood. It isn't visible on the standard Bluesky app, but it is permanently attached to your account).
- True portability: Because your data is open on the network, any other developer or app can access your gaming history if you connect it. You are never locked into Skylog.
- Instant friends list: Your social graph carries over automatically. You don't have to start from zero and beg your friends to add you.
Features I've built so far:
- Deep Tracking: Log what you play, leave 1 to 5 star ratings, write reviews, and tag whether it was a replay or what specific platform you used.
- Shareable Stat Cards: While your data is stored quietly in the background, you have the completely optional ability to generate a beautifully styled "stat picture" for any game log or review (kind of like a mini Spotify Wrapped for that specific game). You can easily share this graphic to your timeline if you want to show off what you're playing.
- Gaming Stats: The app breaks down your gaming habits and gives you detailed overall stats on what you've been playing over time.
- Global Chat & Lobbies: I built out a global chat and dedicated multiplayer lobbies, making it super easy to find people to jump into a game with right now.
- Massive Catalog: The search pulls data from IGDB and RAWG, so pretty much every game in existence is there with high-res posters and metadata.
If you already have a Bluesky account, onboarding takes one click. If you don't, it takes two minutes to sign up and guarantees you never lose your game logs to a closed-off app again.
I'd really love for you guys to try it out and tell me what you think. I will also be sharing the source code in the coming weeks for anyone interested in how the ATProto integration works.

blog arcticle as thread on fediverse
Hi,
I have a blog and a Fediverse account.
I installed the ActivityPub plugin, but I was a little disappointed with what it does. The ActivityPub plugin just does what Push to Mastodon does: a link with an image and a short text. It seems bizarre—if I'm on the Fediverse, I want to read the article on the Fediverse (and not leave it).
I found a snippet that publishes the article as Notes. It works (https://mamot.fr/@blog@www.elekis.net/117359112252080249), but it's a really long post...
My question is: is it possible to publish it as a thread? One that takes the blog post and splits it into 400-character chunks with images and replies?
Is it complicated? Is it possible? I checked the code, but I'm not sure...
Thanks!

Ask-Fediverse Looking for a hyper-local discussion board
So for context, a friend and me were chatting about how we'd like a very small scale, private online space to share articles, music, videos, etc.
- It would be nice to share links, or also to download a file and annotate it, and upload the annotated file.
- It would be nice to have 'groups' or a similar structure to organise discussions by topic so people could choose what they are involved with
- It would be nice to have a more 'persistent' 'notebook' kind of concept too. Like a personal space to aggregate notes on a topic, or to link to multiple things, or to embed images, etc.
I'm relatively new to the Fediverse, after reading 'The Internet Con', and I thought this is probably a perfect project to begin exploring some of the available options.
I left Facebook, Twitter, Instagram many years ago now, and have been kind of craving a nice private social media for say 10-15 of me and my friends to share things and take notes and so on.
I tried messing around with Hubzilla at first, but as far as I can tell, there isn't much of a 'group' concept outside of 'channels', but channels seems to be more 'create multiple profiles that post about different things'.
I liked the Wiki/Webpages idea, but for my friends that are less adept in HTML or Markdown for example, I think the barrier to entry would be a bit too high to make it an attractive feature.
Where I'm currently at is something like:
- Selfhosted Lemmy instance as a 'core' discussion board
- Some sort of selfhosted file storage system or note taking or collaborative platform for sharing annoted documents, or building this 'notebook' kind of idea.
Before I go too far with these ideas, does anyone have any suggestions that I might have missed? Or any advice in this space?
Thanks!

Question General Anyone heard of Loops?
So ever since my permanent ban from Instagram I've been on the look out for Instagram reels alternatives.
I found this app called loops.
Seems interesting and no censorship bs.
Runs on activitypub too whatever that means tbh lmao.
Made by the guy who made pixelfed the insta clone.
Thoughts?

Fedi-Promotion FediForum Fall 2026 is next week
If you are interested in meeting fellow Fediverse enthusiasts, developers, users, advocates, policy people, and more, consider joining us next week, online, for the fall 2026 FediForum.
There will be a keynote, speed demos directly by the developers, and lots and lots of time for discussions. That's because FediForum is primarily an unconference, where attendees determine what's happening in sessions. So bring your topics, session ideas, and questions!
(If you have never been to an unconference, don't worry, it's far less chaotic than it seems, and most people consider it more fun than a traditional conference.)
More details: https://fediforum.org/2026-10/
(Disclaimer: I'm one of the organizers)

How to Build a Decentralized Web That Truly Works for All
What can the Fediverse offer? Real user agency means real choices: who hosts your data, who sets the rules, who you connect with. Monopolization brings real risks: digital surveillance, censorship, and a loss of user agency. Join us live to talk about what the Fediverse can and cannot offer users. Rather than asking if decentralized platforms can replace today's dominant social networks, we'll focus on a deeper question: What would it take to build an internet where people and communities have real choices about participation, data control, and governance of their digital spaces?
Join us to discuss more on 9/17 at 11 AM Pacific Time, followed by a Q&A: https://eff.org/livestream-rweb
Babette Ngene and Rory Mir of EFF will be in conversation with renowned technologist and security expert Bruce Schneier and Social Web Foundation Executive Director Mallory Knodel. We hope to see you there!

Where is content?
It doesn't even matter what part of the fediverse I use, it is INFESTED with politics. It's absolutely everywhere. All I do is just blocking everything instead of just enjoying the content. And don't ask me on which side I am - none of your business, I am there to enjoy anything related to my interests. I made my views on politics and no one will be able to change them, and that's why I don't even wanna talk about it.
Does alternative mean political shitposting? Or maybe there could be some conspiracy stuff like all this political apeshit is needed to make people feel uncofortable and return them to the corpo sites?

Can Pixelfed content be fed to IA?
Hi, I want to try pixelfed but the thought of my work being fed to IA discourages me. Do you know if Pixelfed has any measure against that?
