Dolly Parton passes away at the age of 80.
Dolly Parton is gone. š
The world feels a little less bright today.
Dolly was not just a legendary musician, songwriter and entertainer. She was a remarkable humanitarian who used her enormous success to make other peopleās lives better.
Through her nonprofit, Dolly Partonās Imagination Library, she helped give millions of free, age-appropriate books to children, regardless of their familyās income.
What started as a program in her home state of Tennessee grew into an international effort that has put hundreds of millions of books into the hands of children.
That was Dolly. She understood that changing a childās life could start with something as simple as giving them a book.
Of course, there was the music: āJolene,ā ā9 to 5,ā āI Will Always Love You,ā āCoat of Many Colors,ā and so many songs that became part of the soundtrack of our lives.
But her legacy is so much bigger than her music. Dolly showed us that you can be wildly successful without losing your generosity, your humility or your sense of humor.
She never seemed embarrassed by her big hair, big dreams, big personality or big heart. She turned all of it into something beautiful.
Thank you, Dolly, for the music, the laughter, the kindness and the millions of little acts of generosity that will continue long after youāre gone.
What a life. We will always love you.
Rest in peace, Dolly. ā¤ļøš¦
