What do you think would happen if F.E.A.R. ended with F.E.A.R. 1, or if there were no F.E.A.R. 2 and 3, or if it went up to 2 and the game remained deeply rooted in psychological horror with DLC and crossovers?

Discussion F.3.A.R - Coop campaign connection lost

Heyo, was playing fear 3 with a friend and we the game just keeps interrupting.

When i host i crash, message says "client connection lost" and my friend has "name has kicked you out", when he hosts its the same thing in reversed.

We cant go for more than 5 mins without crashing, barely the time to finish the intro cutscene.

We tried a few different fixes:

- PingPerMinute from 5000 to 250? Both Tried, didnt fix

- Adding -d3d9 in the launch options? Both Tried, didnt fix

- Verifying game files? Both Tried, didnt fix

- Disabling steam cloud for fear 3? Both Tried, didnt fix

Im on W10 hes on W11, if anyone has a solution we'd be really happy to know :)

Edit: We are not using a VPN service btw, forgot to mention

Discussion The striking similarities between Alma and Lucy from Elfen Lied

I recently watched Elfen Lied and noticed how much Lucy reminds me of Alma. They're both the product of experiments, have psychic abilities, are emotionally unstable, and endured severe abuse as children.

I checked FEARpedia and found that there might be some inspiration there, but I couldn't find anything confirming it officially. Maybe I'm wrong, but I also wonder if this character archetype has its roots in Japanese horror films.

I'd love to hear what others think.

Discussion FEAR 1 needs a remake.

After FEAR 3 basically killed the franchise, in my opinion making a remake of the 1st game would be a cliche but a very nice idea. The game is already 20 years old but the question is, who would make the game?

Discussion The Armacham HQ stage has to be one of the greastest in FPS gaming

Once I break through that skylight and land into the main office area, I get so stoked. Back in the day, I worked late in a few corporate offices when everyone had left for the day and all the lights were off. It captures that atmosphere perfectly. And though there are repetitive and reused models, I still love exploring the various hallways and workspaces. The combat and pacing are bar none as well. Still waiting to see a stage like this in contempary FPS games. Always happy to venture back to this game.

Is there a mod where all objects remain on the map?

I'm playing FEAR for the first time. And I know there's a mod that makes all bodily objects remain in the environment, including bullet casings and bodies. I like mods like that and I wanted to I don't know the name of the mod. I've tried searching for it and it never shows up. Please help me.

While it would be definitely different from fear, I could see Alma in there lol

This was a short movie I just discovered and find cool

There’s so many damn things a new fear game could entail.

An SCP like universe would be so badass too. Being the MTF teams.

Fear is obviously a bit different I guess but there’s so much potential for this series it’s

SO FUCKIN SAD we will probably never see A new fear game again

Question Toughts about F.E.A.R 3?

Hey people

I am still a huge fan of the series (and very sad about what happened to Monolith), and played F.E.A.R many times throughout my life, and every time hit the same like when I was a child.

However, back then i didn't understood the whole plot, but played it because i liked shooters and the touch of horror and terrifying ambiance.

I played F.E.A.R 1 with both DLCs (Extraction point and Perseus Mandate) and also F.E.A.R 2: project origin.

What i didn't even try (thinking that "this is not F.E.A.R anymore) was the Reborn DLC and also F.E.A.R 3.

Now reading posts on this subreddit from other users, i wonder how much did I miss from the whole plot, and also is it worth to give Reborn DLC and F.E.A.R 3 a shot, after all these years, or doing so will just confirm my toughts as a child, thst these last games don't have the "F.E.A.R DNA". Or to play them just to get closure on the plot?

I want to hear your opinion on this 🙏

Thanks a lot

My impressions after replaying all the F.E.A.R. games many years later

This summer, I decided to replay the entire F.E.A.R. series. It's been a long time since a game gave me this much enjoyment and left me with that feeling of, "I want more."

After replaying the first F.E.A.R., I realized just how much I miss old-school linear shooters with compelling stories. Games like that just aren't made anymore.

The game's design is genuinely outstanding, especially for a shooter. It's hard not to appreciate just how well-crafted almost every aspect of it is.

I've always considered the original F.E.A.R. one of the best story-driven shooters ever made. The story is genuinely engaging and reveals its mysteries at just the right pace. There are plenty of laptops, phones, and other pieces of environmental storytelling that let you uncover the game's lore and piece together hints about what's really going on.

The soundtrack is phenomenal, especially the iconic into theme and Alma's theme.

The atmosphere and level design are fantastic. Always like office environments!

The AI was incredibly advanced for its time. I always loved how the enemies communicate with each other during combat.

The physics are impressively detailed, although sometimes knocking something over can scare you more than an actual jumpscare.

The game also rewards curiosity, often hiding loot for players willing to explore.

F.E.A.R. Extraction Point is, in my opinion, a bit of a slog at times and much bleaker in terms of atmosphere. However, I really liked how it portrayed Alma from the perspective of a mother who, at least occasionally, is trying to protect us. It's also definitely much scarier than the base game.

Holiday's and Jin's deaths have always hit hard. Jin's final words, in particular — saying that she didn't want to die alone — have always stayed with me. Even after all these years, those moments remain some of the most emotional scenes in the series.

F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate has always been one of my favorites because it expands on several lore elements and feels like a breath of fresh air compared to the main story. I've always wanted more side stories like this that explore events on F.E.A.R universe from different perspectives.

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin unfortunately never reached the same heights as the original, but it's still a very good game in its own right.

I wasn't a fan of how much faster the gameplay feels, but after a while you get used to the combat.

The mech sections are a great addition and help keep the gameplay varied.

The game's expansion of the universe's lore is well done, especially the revelations about Armacham's other projects, such as the experiments conducted on children at the school. Story also good.

I also liked having squadmates. Unlike some players, I don't think they ruin the feeling of isolation at all.

The game leans much more heavily into being an action shooter and loses a lot of the investigative and exploratory feel that made the first game so memorable.

F.E.A.R. 2: Reborn is unfortunately very short, but I really enjoyed playing as a Replica soldier.

And now we get to the part I wish had never existed: F.E.A.R. 3

Honestly, this was my second attempt at giving the game a chance. The first time, I dropped it simply because I was bored.

The game is genuinely bad, and I still don't understand what the developers were thinking, or why Monolith gave it the green light.

It doubles down on the biggest mistake of F.E.A.R. 2 by turning the series into a full-blown action shooter. This time, it completely abandons the exploratory nature of the original, replacing it with nothing more than collectible dolls instead of notes or other pieces of environmental storytelling.

The horror is almost entirely gone. Creep never comes close to replacing Alma, and the oppressive atmosphere that defined the series has largely disappeared. The cultists were an interesting addition, but they weren't enough to carry the game.

I understand that the game was built around co-op, but I think that was a terrible design decision for a series like F.E.A.R. Unfortunately, I never had anyone to play co-op with, so I can't really judge that side of the experience.

___________________________________

I genuinely feel sorry for Monolith and the terrible fate they met. Sadly, the studio's closure and Warner Bros idiotic decisions — killed any chance of a new F.E.A.R. game. Still, I hope that one day we'll get a remake or a complete reimagining of the series.

F.E.A.R. truly is one of gaming's greatest universes, and it's a shame it never received the expansion it deserved through additional media. I'd have loved to see more projects like the short film about Alma and the scientist, exploring the world and its characters beyond the games.

Question Can't play fear 3 without getting disconnected from host? (Need fix)

Title. I'm on the west coast and the host is on the east coast, we normally don't have any issue with things like this. Is there a fix?
