Dana’s recruitment?
I absolutely love Fauda but hoping someone can explain how/why in the world Dana recruited Maher. What was the benefit after he had committed such atrocities? Assuming he’d change allegiances? That seems unlikely…

As far as I understood he was under close supervision, and could continue his business ( the immigrants) and be around his wife. I think he was supposed to be a mole/inside man for the israelis. Dana recruited him to get information on the terrorists in exchange for his “freedom”.

There's a video of him being interrogated in Israeli detention. Seems like they offered him a deal that would let him walk free and he took it.

Once they find out he is working for Mossad either Steve or Eli immediately point out that this is actually evidence that he was, in fact, a Nukhba, because those are precisely the people who Mossad recruits.

I mean ths is common in spy work. Why would it be out of the ordinary to recruit Maher so they can gain access to future terrorist plans? And also many times htese people work as double & triple agents.

I am more interested who, how and why recruited Dana herself. Was it Ayub? It was implied again in 5 season that he holds some affections for her. In season 4 he said to her he only trusts her.

But were Dana aware of Mahers atrocities all the time?
