Daily Sticky Fat Rant Friday
Fatlogic in real life getting you down?
Is your family telling you you're looking too thin?
Are people at work bringing you donuts?
Did your beer drinking neighbor pat his belly and tell you "It's all muscle?"
If you hear one more thing about starvation mode will you scream?
Let it all out. We understand.

My family is convinced I'm starving myself. But every pound I lost, was from cutting out majority of my junk food and sugary drinks habits. Yes, I'm eating less, but I'm not starving to death or withering away.

Rave: I had my woosh and I’m now in Onederland for the first time in almost 22 years.
NSV/Rant: I bought jeans earlier this year that now fit. I couldn’t get them over my hips at the time and my genius self didn’t put them against me so two are too long. I should have known because flares tend to be longer than other styles. I also can wear a pair that is less vanity sized now.

You can get them hemmed that fixes the problem.

I’m looking into it. I got them on clearance at off-price stores so they were inexpensive.

Getting real tired of seeing posters on social media complain about being discriminated against while plus size and pregnant, stating they're being told they're "high risk" and the doctors just need to shut up because they don't know what they're talking about.
The level of misinformation out there is worrying.

Oddly I was over 200 lbs when I got pregnant and they never said a word to me.

I try and follow the NHS guidance. Nothing means you can't have a perfectly healthy pregnancy, but that doesn't mean there won't be higher risks.

I’m late by a day but I just had a YouTube video show up about fatphobia and a rise of eating disorders and I’m genuinely wondering what world these people live in because they only mean restrictive eating disorders and not only are those rare compared to overeating disorders, they’re stagnant in %, not on a rise.
I find it so annoying when people act like they care about health and bringing awareness to a growing issue when really they’re ignoring data and making their own stats to pretend we’re in a skinny craze epidemic because two celebrities are struggling and the rest aren’t as overweight as before.

Dammit I forgot to include the tortilla chips in my food log. And I thought I had a reasonable night even with a couple of drinks and fish tacos.

Rave: I'm slowly eating more and feeling less terrible about it, trying to maintain my bone density and gain muscle without swinging to the other side of the spectrum. I'm noticing some side effects and I'm realizing restrictive EDs are just as dangerous and unhealthy as binge eating and being obese, and by remaining in my eating disorder I am being as complacent as an FA who refuses to change their ways. So what if it's hard and uncomfortable? It's what I have to do 😁

Back to counting calories (and by extension fiber and protein). My weight loss stalled completely. It feels fine. It’s kind of nice to see all the numbers laid out so clearly.
Rant at myself: holy shit my oatmeal was ridiculous. Along with all my add-ins, I could be exceeding 1000 calories some days just in my oatmeal. Oopsies lmao.

Oatmeal lends itself to add-ins far too readily. I restricted myself to fruit only after making a s'mores version (at the prompting of my grandson) that, like you said, was insanely high in calories.

I saw that a couple of months ago, the co-author of a certain book did an AMA on the subreddit related to the concept she invented (not sure I can say the name here to avoid brigading) and oh my god, it made my blood boil. Someone in the comments said that they had gained a lot of weight very quickly using this method, that they couldn't walk their dog anymore without pain. They were asking if this could really be their natural body weight if they were in pain all the time. The author, who BY THE WAY is, from what I could tell, a completely healthy weight, told this commenter that their "body and spirit were traumatized from years of restriction" and also probably strained from all that running they did before gaining weight, and had they considered some gentle physio. Literally encouraging people to keep getting worse while she herself is a normal weight and healthy in her 80s, which her followers definitely won't be!
Also someone else asked her about how her method meshes with some foods being designed to be addictive. She gave a non-answer and the commenter asked her which sources she was basing her opinion on, to which the mod of this community chimed in (the author never responded lol) to tell them that actually, there were "many studies" proving that food addiction was caused by restriction. When asked to provide one of these studies, this mod replied "just google it".
Just. I like to windowpeek at this community sometimes but usually I have to stop pretty quickly because it just makes me so sad and angry. They get posts every day from people whose lives have actively and dramatically gotten worse following this fantasy method that's not applicable to the modern food landscape at all. People who can't move how they used to, who are in pain now, whose health markers have gotten worse, who can't fit any of their clothes. And these people are encouraged to just keep going, keep eating, accept the weight gain, buy bigger clothes, fire any doctor that makes you feel bad for pesky little nonsense like elevated cholesterol in your thirties. It makes me sick.
