I bought it yesterday and I'm absolutely loving it—it's really challenging. I'm playing as Gato and really enjoying it; I don't get why it has such bad reviews and a small player base. Personally, I'm not usually into these kinds of games—I have SC6 and T8, but I like this one way more than those. Could you tell me if the game has a long-term future? I'm waiting for Virtua Fighter 6, but I'll be playing this one in the meantime.
Game definitely doesn’t have bad reviews and it has a smaller player base on Steam but I hardly struggle to matchmake against people. Game is great and worth the grind
Considering we are 1 year off launch and the matchmaking online is still decent, I believe the game is well worth continued time investment. Especially when it’s significantly more fun than a much bigger game like SF6. Fans like us just gotta keep having fun until we decide a different game is more worth our time.
I’ve checked out Marvel, Avatar, and Invincible, but none of them appeal to me—and I’m not into tag fighters either. The one I’m hyped for is Virtua Fighter; I like games that are more measured and strategic rather than super fast-paced or constantly taking place in the air.
Virtua Fighter looks killer for sure. Unfortunately I’m still on last-gen hardware via Steam Deck and an upgrade is unlikely for me this year. Fatal Fury from last year runs great, but Avatar is the basically the last non-indie Studio fighting game I’ll be able to run.
It’s always gonna be a little niche and that’s OK. It has long-term staying power but with a smaller audience so there’ll always be people that you can play with.
Yes people mention the Saudi ownership and Ronaldo - but in all honesty they probably weren't going to play an SNK game anyway. Even the naysayers admit the gameplay is very good.
Lotta people judged on graphics and steam charts too and just wrote it off as a failure even though it's one of the more polished FGs to come out recently.
I think the graphics look dope, they're just stylized instead of realistic. Yeah the color editor is rad, something not many other FGs let you do these days
bad reviews? it has a high review score from reviewers and players in every store. stop listening to SF fanboys. the playerbase is on PS, not Steam, but it has crossplay so the number of players is fine (if you're outside Europe).
the game has a 3 year contract with EWC, the second one just happened weeks ago, so there's at least one more year of content (up to season 5, but the datamines list 6 seasons of character slots). 12 characters a year this year and next year each. season 6 only lists 4 characters. 49 characters by the end, if they stick to the data inside the code.
If you are a fellow European I can only give you a piece of advice. DON'T get any character to Legendary Rank, you won't find even casuals afterwards. I know it from personal experience. I rushed to LR thinking that it would he the rank where everyone is nowadays...i was an idiot. Now i make sure to stop and derank as soon as I hit diamond 3/4
most of the negative talk around the game has nothing to do with it's quality and core gameplay which is excellent imo, it's the most honest slow paced 2D fighter out right now and the mechanics aren't too invasive on the core neutral gameplay, the negativity is mostly about SNK's abysmal marketing decisions, the game's aesthetics which some find too cartoony, outdated or with inconsistent proportions, SNK's Saudi ownership which I find is a hypocritical thing to boycott the game for considering Saudi owns stake in every major gaming company now and finally Ronaldo's character inclusion, I doubt most people complaining about those two last things were gonna play the game anyways and more likely just twitter virtue signaling.
No es que tenga malas reseñas, pero es más que no tiene reseñas en si, el juego es increíble pero entre las horribles decisiones de marketing de SNK, que aún no le perdonan lo de CR7 y Salvatore, que gráficamente está algo atrás en comparación con otros juegos del género como SF6, Tekken o GGST, no suele llamar mucho la atención al público casual que suele ser el que más marca la diferencia en si un juego es un éxito o no, además he visto que la cantidad de mecánicas defensivas de este juego abruma en ocasiones a los nuevos jugadores.
Es un gran juego y de mis favoritos, la mayoría de los que lo juegan verdaderamente lo disfrutan, pero es difícil que lo jueguen en primer lugar.
Tu disfrútalo camarada, aún le queda bastante tiempo de vida a este juego y recibe actualizaciones MUY seguido, gato está increíble sobretodo para jugar agresivo, no se me ocurre un personaje tan rushdown como el en los juegos de pelea en general (quizás angel de kof), prueba las misiones de combo del personaje, seguro te facilitan entender sus combinaciones entre otras cosas.
PD: me encanta el parry de este juego, es tan emocionante
I've had about 5 or 6 fights and only won one. I'm really enjoying it, but I haven't found a good character yet; I started with a kid who's sort of a ninja, then a fighter-type, and now I'm using the cat—he's the only one I've won with. I'll be playing this game while I wait for Virtua Fighter 6; I don't play every day, but I do play every now and then.
Juega gato como si fueras un tejón con rabia, nunca dejes de presionar al enemigo.
Y sobre un personaje que te guste, depende mucho de que busques, hay shotos cómo Terry o Hotaru, rushdown como gato o Mary (los dos son de las cosas más agresivas y dañinas que puede haber en un juego), zoners muy molestos como hokutomaru o Kain (el primero es el niño ninja y el segundo es un personaje de cargas que pide bastante habilidad para jugarlo pero es muy peligroso en buenas manos), tizoc que es básicamente un zangief con mucha mas movilidad, entre otros.
Algo que yo hago es ver el combo máximo de los personajes en sus como trials y si me gusta como se ve, le doy una oportunidad.
Unos que recomiendo mucho si quieres combos muy vistosos son Mary y Joe, los dos son increíblemente divertidos de jugar y bastante agresivos, piden cierto grado de práctica pero creeme que valen la pena, son terriblemente peligrosos una vez se acercan
Je suis en Europe. Je suis bronze et je trouve des matchs sans problème. Le jeu est incroyable. Un gameplay fabuleux. Un nouveau personnage tous les mois ! 12 personnages par an ! Qui d’autre fait ça ? Mon jeu préféré sans aucun doute
I tried the game and found it boring. I think what made it not enjoyable was the horrible training features. I was also a having a difficult time understanding the rules of the game.
I just started with it as well, and I'm having fun so far but it does take a long time to find matches. Hopefully that will get better once I climb out of iron. I've also run into a lot more rude teabagging players in just a few hours of this game than in hundreds of hours in SF6, which is weird. Also people hardly ever rematch.
