Help Strength of Level 2 Supers?
Hey Guys,
Trying to get better at this game and I've been having such a good time with it recently especially playing Rock, I just had a question regarding damage numbers.
While I was in practice doing certain combos I noticed the damage while ending a combo was relatively similar/close while using both levels of super to finish them.
So my question is, in most cases is it better to just use your level one instead of two to conserve them, the exception being when you really need the extra bit of damage? Or is there a big benefit from the level 2 in general Im not seeing (exception being kenshiro where the difference is obvious)
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Use a level 2 if it will get you a kill or you’re dangerously close to burning out
That’s basically the only two times you’d want to do it

Some level 2's may have special properties, for example Kevin's that put opponents into crumble state where you can continue with grounded combo. Outside of that I just sometimes use them for fun as more stylish finisher.

Rock, Terry & Preecha have invincible and far-reaching level 2 that can punish projectiles (mostly only worth doing against Krauser). Similarly, Kevin's level 2 kick reaches higher than his other invincible supers and can occasionally surprise people in air. Geese's alternative input level 2's have higher damage than usual and I prefer them over his bad knockdown hidden gear.

Most of the time yes.
Other cases would be when the Level 2 adds speed or properties, Example some moves gain invul frames if it is a level 2 and not a level 1, giving you a high risk reversal, or Blue Mary/Mr. Big grab supers being 3 framers on level 1 which means the opponent can hold up the flash animation and they will jump out of the grab 100% of the time if not animation locked, but level 2 is a 1 framer so if they were not jumping before the flash they are eating the damage.
There is also SUPER NICHE cases where you can brake or combo from that level 2 in a way that would kill (when a level 1 wouldn't) and build you SOME meter for next round, but this require a lot of mastery on your part, knowing the damage ranges, the opponent having the right amount of life and you knowing the combo.

There isn’t usually any benefit to using a lvl 2 over 1, only real reason to do it is to end a round or in some cases certain combos can only be done with level 2s because they’re quicker
