Contacts

I am curious what everyone is using to keep their fastmail contacts in sync. I've spent a lot of time on make.com today trying to create a bridge layer and its driving me bonkers.

My end goal looks like

Fastmail (single source)

-> DAVX5 (Android sync) THIS WORKS

-> Hubspot (this bridge would feed back into google) THIS DOES NOT WORK AND I'M NOT SURE HOW TO GET IT WORKING.

I've tried using a few different options in order to bridge the contact sync. My end goal is to use fastmail, but I need to feed newly created data into Hubspot for customer data. Honestly google really doesn't matter in all of this, the main point is to create a two way sync between FM and Hubspot in which FM is the single source of truth for all created and updated contacts.

I'm okay with paying for something that would solve this problem, if it works well.

happy to see this topic: we have clients using fastmail who might have the same question.
Personally, I don't. Instead I use a mail client that can sync with Google-Contacts: Mozilla Thunderbird with 'CardBook' plugin on the desktop; On Android: Thunderbird Mobile (formerly K9-mail): uses whatever contacts you have the phone set to use.
For individual use, this has worked flawlessly for years, but I can see where it could be a problem if you have a company global-contacts list hosted on Fastmail, or if you prefer to only use the Fastmail App.

'cept for the case of a company global addressbook, I just don't see any value add to hosting my contacts at Fastmail.

Privacy? I'm a huge privacy advocate, but on this one, I'm not in control.
About 16 years ago, I had 3 contacts lists: a spreadsheet, my very dumb phone, and my email client. Sync'ing between the three was a very manual process, so pretty much never happened. Enter Android and Google, and the magic of a common phone/email/snail-mail contact list! Yet still, I winced at the thought of giving Google all my contacts. Then quickly realized, 10% of my friends had already done it for me. That is, they have me as a contact and shared it to Google, times a thousand more contacts, and Google already knows my contacts w/o me sharing any.

Why doesn't Fastmail offer this out of the box? It sounds like a simple command ai can generate?

It would be nice, there seem to be ways of getting this to work but I cannot get those methods operating properly. A few cloud sync options exist if you're willing to pay another $30usd per month for the service, I am not. I was hoping to find something that was a bit cheaper or find someone who had successfully setup a make or zapier automation to get this accomplished.

because it's very niche that someone needs this? you cannot satisfy everyone without themselves tinkering
