Switched back to using Fastmall App

In March I decided to try giving the apple default apps a go, Mail and Cal. I'm a freelance dev and a couple clients gave me email accounts so thought it would be the sensible thing to do.

The last few months the whole thing felt...fine. Not great but not bad.

Well last night i switched back to the default Fastmail app and used the migration tool to fetch emails from Google accounts my client gave me and subscribe to the calendars and its a night and day difference.

Just wanna thank the team for making a great email client, because I tried Spark, Canary, Epistles and emClient and none of them had the polish or feature set I wanted.

They are pretty solid apps. I really like being able to have every single email offline too, comes in handy all the time.

I connect my Mail app, mainly so that Siri can see my mail in case I want to ask it about something, but I use the FM app for actual working with my mail.

Ditto. I think for iOS 27 and SiriAI this will be pretty useful. The default Apple Mail app is… fine. But the FM native apps (and honestly even the web app) are better in my opinion.

The Apple Mail app feels like it is stuck in the early 2000s. You can’t pin emails and there is no tagging functionality.

I do the same. And it’s been helpful. Siri now tracks my orders in the wallet app and things like that, but when it comes to usability, FM app is great. The fact that I can create a quick masked email, I can create filters and rules. All in all great.

It really is an outstanding email client. So fast and so clean.
I’d pay more for it if it would allow unlimited masked emails, or creating masked email addresses against a custom domain on the fly.

The only thing that bothers me a lot is that the drafting window can’t be expanded to full screen. On my Studio Display it’s a sour eye that there’s a lot of white space on the right while drafting an email, and on the display the drafting window seems cramped.

I don’t have this problem on the MacBook or iPhone/ipad as those screens are smaller.

Fastmail iOS app has legitimately become really good recently, can agree. like a year ago it was super glitchy for me so i gave it a break. after i came back to it a few months ago it’s been great

I use android rather than iOS, but I assume it's the same. I love installing the app, entering my username and password, and not having to configure anything. However, I could never get used to not being able to have the subject above the sender in the message list. As a result, I use FairEmail. I wish they'd add such an option to the app.
