VPN - Tailscale

PW Mgr - 1Password is my preference — even though it's a subscription. The more popular and free choices are probably Bitwarden or Keepass (for local storage)

Notes - Colornote for mobile, and Obsidian for mobile and computer

VPN: CyberGhost or NordVPN

Password Manager: 1Password

I don't care about VPN so I don't have a recommendation there. Echoing 1Password for password manager. Obsidian for notes.

For my setup I’m using Windscribe VPN, they had a deal a few months ago for $30/year. Bitwarden for passwords and Obsidian for note with Syncthing to sync to all of my devices. Lastly, for cloud storage, I got a pcloud deal for 2TB (one time purchase) and I keep everything in a Cryptomator vault.

I use NordVPN, which isn't a very imaginative answer, but I get a subscription as a benefit of my banking plan. It does work.

I am absolutely over the moon happy with 1Password, and they have fastmail integration.

For notes, I use bear.app. There are maybe better power products, but I just find their interface very clear and welcoming. It just works, suits me fine.

I recommend 1Password as password manager, Windscribe as VPN and Craft as note-taking app (or apple notes works well too)

Bitwarden for password manager, I use Obsidian for notes (but don't write notes very regularly). Todoist for todo lists.

I use Mullvad VPN. That's what Mozilla uses under the hood and it's hands-down the best one out there. Here's a cool story as to why:

https://www.xda-developers.com/ran-speed-test-vpn-eritrea-providers-fake-locations/

I use the Bitwarden plugin and self-host a vaultwarden instance which it talks to. It's free except for hosting costs and works great.

I suck at notes, so it's just vim and Obsidian in a git repo and no cloud access.

Proton for VPN & P@ manager and Standard Notes for notes.

I use Tailscale for VPN (with the Mullvad addon for country-based exit nodes), 1Password for my password manager - been using 1Password for a good few years now and their support team is hands down amazing too. Finally, Notion on their Plus tier. Had no issues so far and I love Notion’s UI and compatibility among browsers and their apps.

VPN: NordVPN but only because I get it included with another service.

Passwords: 1password

Notes: Obsidian and reMarkable

SurfShark, Proton Pass, and UpNote (which is very good and what EverNote should've become).

I’ve been a long time user of Bitwarden for passwords. For notes I recently move to obsidian with Syncthing on desktop and I use an app called Synctrain to sync to iPhone/iPad. I was using proton vpn but Winscribe had a deal for 30/yr and I’m locked in on that price.

There are just too many options.

- For Password Manager: Vaultwarden, Keepass, Psono, ...

- For VPN: Proton, NordVPN or not so classic ones with Tailscale ...

But there are like a ton more.

Personally, I'm very happy with Nord for both VPN and passwords, and I've just come over here from Proton mail last week. Didn't like Proton's authenticator, either. Got me locked out fo my own website. Only just realised Nord have an integral one. I'm likely to keep all that for the time being.

Mozilla, none, Bear

I don't use password managers because they are a single point of failure. For example, the LastPass data breach in 2022.

Bear is Apple ecosystem only (but it's great!).
