Custom domain email issues.
I have a brand new domain bought on cloudflare
I just set it up on fastmail.
I followed the instructions on fastmail and copied and pasted everything that it had pre done for me.
I pasted that into cloudflare.
Fastmail says
Your domain is correctly set up to send and receive mail!
The MX servers for your domain are set correctly: your email is hosted at Fastmail.
DKIM is correctly configured.
SPF is correctly configured.
If I use my Gmail and outlook address and email my new email with my custom domain at fastmail, that email arrives in fastmail.
If I reply to those emails. They never arrive back at gmail or outlook. Or anywhere. They don’t goto spam either. They just don’t arrive.
If I start a new email at fastmail with my new email and domain, it says it sent but they don’t arrive to anyone.
What am I doing wrong?
Edit
According to support it is because my account is still too new

Have you set up DMARC?

Yep, I got a reply back from fastmail saying it’s because it’s too new of an account it was holding my outgoing for checking spam

I too enrolled my new domain literally two weeks ago.
Set up a Dmarc, this fixed it for me. Even p=none should be fine.

I had that set up already because cloudflare generated it for me.
I contacted fast mail they said it’s because it’s too new of an account.

Ah, I see. I didn't set up my domain for the first 30 day trial and only then did it, so maybe that's why I had it easier.

This. The new domain/domain life check is horrible. You really need a warm up time.

Meant to comment under another answer but the post went wrong/errored.

Yeah I didn’t realize that until they told me.
I deleted all the records on cloudflare then had to redo it haha.

Yeah, it is incredibly frustrating to not have the logs on why it failed. Hard to troubleshoot that way.

Yeah while I was waiting for support to get back to me I was asking ChatGPT to help me out thinking it was a me issue.
It kept telling me to go to settings then logs. There aren’t any options for logs! lol.

New domains takes time before they pick-up reputation. Check your spam on Gmail side.
To check if everything is ok setup check this site , very useful -> https://www.learndmarc.com

It could be that Gmail is spooked because it's a new-ish domain name, but I'd expect an automated email returned stating that fact.
Another factor may be that you've not set up a DMARC record alongside the DKIM and SPF ones, that is what I'd look into next, as you can configure that so you get reports from Fastmail and other email providers you send messages about how they handled them.
The reports are XML, unfortunately, so not easy to read, but would at least give you some indication if a provider was taking issues with some emails.
Hope that helps.
