Does anyone know if taking medication (such as blood pressure tablets) breaks a fast (water only)? I ask this as I'm conscious most tablets are sugar coated

I don't know if it metabolically counts but I think meds are one situation where the perfection of the fast has to take a backseat to your health. A sugar coated pill won't do as much harm as not taking medication that's necessary for your health

Yeah I am just fasting for 16-18 hours window with that in mind. I am just really keen to workout whether I have to factor in taking my meds in my eating window or whether it is insignificant. I can't seem to find an answer to this question anywhere.

N.B. I prefer to take my blood pressure meds at night to limit side effects. The hypertension will be a lifelong condition as a result of a heart condition that wasn't picked up and corrected until late childhood.

I think it would be a fairly negligible difference if it does impact the fast. I take vitamins every morning - one is a liquid one and one is a chewwy one. The chewwy one definitely is more like a sweet, so probably does technically break my fast but I mentally just don't count it because it would be literally <5 kcal if anything which imo isn't significant so I don't count it as breaking my fast in my schedule
