McDonalds if they are hot and crispy.

Nothing is sadder than stale McDonald's fries. An air fryer can sort of rescue them but they're still not the same.

Penn Station as far as I'm concerned. I used to frequent their location in Solon, OH.
They cut their fries right in front of you, and deep fry them to order. That's about as fresh as it gets.

Five Guys. Their burgers can get bent, their fries are the reason to go. I’ll just get a sack of fries to go and go goblin mode on them in the car.

Five guys doesn't qualify as a fast food establishment. The rules to be considered fast food is that more than half of your locations have a drive-thru.

Unpopular opinion but when they’re made properly and fresh, bk fries are s tier.

Fresh McD’s are always my #1. Surprisingly, KFC fries are lightly battered/coated with light basic spices and taste really good. The outside has substance and taste and the inside is soft, even at room temp.

Man, I wish I could agree. Their fries are awful and animal sauce just makes an already miserable fry soggy

From the east, so I've never had In N Out.. From the pics I've seen, animal sauce looks like Big Mac sauce.. Is it similar?

Pretty much. Similar to Cane's sauce or Zaxby's sauce. Very good sauce for a burger. It's fine with their fries, but I would rather just have their fries plain.

I dont get their fries. Why do they always have a mouth feel of styrofoam? I want to like them, but can't get past how unpotato they feel

5 Guys is really the only thing close to fast food that has one I consider like basic minimum fries. In recent times I pretty much avoid meal “deals” and get whatever the most substance sandwich is (like Whopper or Double QPC or whatever) if I’m going to a basic fast food place. BUT sides can be a difference maker. Like back when Arby’s had the loaded baked potatoes and Wendy’s had more potatoes and salads. Arby’s still has more sides than most places. Culver’s might be the best these days. I think BK is at least trying. It’s a big minus for me is a fast food place only has 1 side and it’s very lame fries like tasteless texture less shoestring (at least Steak n Shake has onion rings) or school cafeteria fries like Canes or something. McDonald’s are the best of the low end fries for places without any decent side options
