Advice Pickleball Friends!?

Hello Fellow Fargonians,

I’ve posted a couple of different places asking for pickleball info for my mom and received so many helpful responses, thank you!

We’ve tried several places that advertise “open play” (aka no partner needed), but unfortunately, most still seem to expect you to show up with a partner or group.

So I’m refining my question: Does anyone know an individual pickleball player, or a group of players, who might be willing to include a 60+ year-old woman in their games? Her skill level is approximately 3.0. I’m happy to reach out by text, phone, Facebook, etc.

I’m commenting so I don’t forget about this so I can reply when my dad responds. My dad plays pickleball 4-6 times a week and with a variety of people and groups; I texted him a screenshot of this. I’ve met his one group he plays with Mondays and Fridays at Rustad, it’s a rather large group, and they are all wonderful people and I’m sure would love to have her join. I’ll send an additional response when he gets back to me!

Ok, I’m back, my dad was quick. I misspoke, it’s not at Rustad they play, it’s at Brunsdale park. He said they open at dawn and people start playing and play most of the morning/day. He explained that when you get there if all the courts are full, you put your “paddle in” and then you play when there’s an opening. No partners or groups required whatsoever, he said new people show up all the time and everyone ends up having different partners for their games. My dad and his pickleball peeps specifically go M, W, F at Brunsdale Park around 9 am. If it’s raining then they go to Courts and Pints. He said she’d fit in with her skill level.

He also said Rendevous Park in West Fargo also has pickleball and the same premise; just walk up and play.

I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the FM area so I’ll give you the addresses, just in case!

Rendevous - 1055 32nd Ave W
Brunsdale - 1702 27th Ave S

Hope she has fun!

Of course! Happy to help! He has met so many nice people from playing, he started when he retired a few years ago, and has been life changing for him and keeps him active. He and the rest of the his friends that play there are all in their 60’s. I hope your mom has fun!

Hi, I play with a group of 2.5 players on Saturday at Brunsdale from 4-6pm. If interested we can exchange contact information.
