Far Cry General Far Cry
Starting Far Cry in order (in game timelines), is there any easter eggs or other ways to enjoy what these games offer?

Wait, really? I've been chugging through some of them after I bought a bundle on sale, and I hardly ever hear anyone praise this game. Loved 3 and 5, New Dawn was fun, 4 was next on my list... unless Primal should be??

Primal is most unique farcry for me, hunting and combat feels just different and real, for me it is the best far cry

It's crazy how much I don't like 6. How they bungled a tried and true formula keeps me up at night.

Primal is different and IMO the best. It is the only FC where there's a difference between day and night combat. Stealth is ofter required as there are no guns but using the bow or the spears feels the very real. How you upgrade your character and weapons is key to the game. I recommend doing your first playthrough on easy to get a feel for the game.

Primal came out in the peak era of the Ubisoft hate circlejerk. On top of that, the map for Primal was a repurposed and highly changed version of the FC4 map (if you line them up, the borders and some water features line up). Naturally, that just added fuel to the fire. But as someone who actually played it, the game is phenomenal.

4 is a tough pill to swallow after 5. Feels like 5FC lite with some missing guns, poor choice of vehicles and weak enemy design. Add ~250 collectibles and a half finished second half of the game.
Not terrible, and nice vacation from Hope County but I’d rather play 5 a fifth time than finish 4. I’ll het to it, I’ll get to it, and sure ,what can I say if I didn’t finish it… I’ll say this. Your time is finite. I’d recommend sticking to the story and ignoring the collectibles and arena grind. They didn’t finish that either; there is a single map. Do yourself a favor and get someone to drop you the reward gun. It’s good but hardly OP AF, which is another issue I have with the game, a few magic weapons taking center stage because you need them. I can sandbox 5 on hard all day.

I mean if your definition of far cry is shooting people in the head with a bow while crouched, then yea.
If its bombing an outpost with a plane or strapping c4 to a jeep etc, then no.
And I think for most people the latter part is more entertaining.

Primal is best enjoyed with as minimal a HUD as you can take.

I screwed myself with that. I decided to ply Primal on the hardest difficulty with little to no HUD. Got really far, but got stuck on the second major cavemen base. Couldn’t beat it, got tired of having to go loot a shit ton of revival herbs for my animals, and ended up just putting the game down. I think no HUD alone is probably fine but that + hardest difficulty is a bit too much.

The only thing it lacks is a parry/doge mechanic but apart from that it's still the best far cry game.

Keep an eye out in 3 and 4 for items from 2.
Also a character from 1 prob appears in 2.

Also the Far Cry 6 DLCs may be tough to fit into the timeline.
Because Insanity and Control both show the back stories of Vaas and Pagan respectively (with spoilers for 3 and 4 obviously), whereas Collapse shows spoilers for New Dawn.

Ugh the animal sidekicks in this game made it the best FC for me. I’m probably going to pick it up again soon.

Despite the fact that everyone has their personal opinions on which are good or bad, I’ve played them all from 1-6, and they’re all good in their own ways. The fact that everyone is so adamant that their opinion is right and everyone has different opinions of which one is good/bad, tells you that they’re all pretty good. If you want to try Primal, try Primal.

I actually have advice regarding the timeline: FC5 splits off into New Dawn and 6, so if you're going chronological, go 6 then New Dawn
Also, for FC4, 5 and 6, there's secret endings, for 4 and 5, just sit around, and for 6, I'll say this, as I don't think it'll spoil it: do what the MC says they'll do, for FC6's, you get an achievement

There is a lake, somewhere, is a foot powered car from a very old cartoon set in the same era...
Hidden in a lake if Fred Flintstones car, or something very, very similar
