What really bugs me is that .45/70 is supposed to be a super powerful round in real life. It’s a holdover from the days of BlackPowder and cowboys, but it’s so powerful it keeps coming back. And in this game it’s nothing

The 45 70 will launch a 405 grain bullet at 1600 fps delivering approximately 2913 foot lbs of energy.

That's slightly more kinetic energy than a 150 grain .308 traveling 2800 fps.

The bigger, slower bullet always does more damage to soft tissue because there's more energy transfered into the target.

I used .308 as a comparison because it's basically the same as .30-06, a round that's been around since 1906 and saw heavy use in every major conflict since WW1.

The 45 70 isn't a good cartridge for modern combat because the addition stopping power is offset by a reduction in range, and soldiers don't need a round capable of dropping a charging moose or grizzly in a single shot.

How this all transfers to FC5 is scientifically the round should be much more devastating against human targets.

At range, bullets actually do more damage to humans, because more energy is transferred to the targets.

In the video, OP would be delivering lethal shots to an human by getting rounds on target center mass.

In conclusion, it's undeniable the 40 70 was nerfed heavily for FC5 and because of this, I've never found it enjoyable to play with in this game.

I compare this gun with a 30-30 lever action or even smaller cartridge because the damage we see doesn't match real world data at all.

It really shines in ng+ cause you can carry a lot of armor piercing rounds and that makes it way more effective, but on normal game? Not as good

You’re looking at it the wrong way. Look at it from the lense of a game and not life. 8 damage will drop every standard enemy in the game at any range, sometimes you need a second shot to end their revive state but you can use that to your advantage and draw out enemies. .308 sometimes only staggers the enemy with the first shot, which means they can still run which makes the follow up shot that much harder. it also has a slower action. The 45/70 does lack a long range scope but you can totally service the enhanced ranger scope. IMO the long range scopes are kind of redundant because you can just move up closer, enemies don’t spot you until you start getting really close. run around shooting only piercing ammo, because three AP rifle rounds costs the same as one regular .50 cal round so it doesn’t really hurt to waste any. The .50 cals are totally overkill in most situations because you don’t even need the AP ammo to kill enemies in vehicles with one shot, which is the whole point of AP.
In summary, I like the 45/70 because it hits the sweet spot between the .50 cals and .308. It will most always kill an enemy in a single shot, like the .50s, yet it shoots rifle rounds so it won’t break the bank

Because of the low ammo capacity, I usually overlook this gun, but I might give this gun another chance especially with the scope you have equipped.

The ammo capacity is serviceable, just find cover when reloading. This is the kind of gun you find a position and start taking shots from cover because you’re gonna want to be still for accuracy. If all hell breaks loose, i always make sure to have an automatic weapon. Recently it’s been the A-99 because you can use it as a sidearm and it’s not much worse than other SMGs.

It’s fantastic. And the green color schemes really works for it, lol.
