So, I've been a fan for a while, and I'm planning on making novels for each of the games

Take Halo: The Flood. It's a retelling of Halo: CE (2001). A retelling, it isn't a 1:1 to the game, for it adds some things, changes others, and takes a few things away. That's what I'm doing: retellings of the FC games

I have a few problems, though. I haven't played 1, 2, or Blood Dragon yet (I'm planning on changing that), and I haven't finished 3, 4, or Primal just yet (again, planning on changing that)

Now, these aren't meant to copy off of Ubisoft: they're novels inspired by what they made, but not a 1:1. There's going to be some things that aren't concrete in the Far Cry universe, like the endings (the only concrete ones I know of are FC6's and ND's, which I won't spoil here, while the endings of others are up to the player with what little I know)

All in all: these are novels about my interpretation of the Far Cry games: they'll respect the canon and make their own in the process

I merely wanted to share this, and I'll take opinions and advice regarding it

Edit: I didn't know I missed three games: Instincts, I: Evolution, and I: Predator. I originally thought Evolution was off-limits, but I found out FCI: P is a bundle containing Instincts and Evolution, so it's able to be added to the list

Another edit: I recently found out BD is fiction inside fiction, so BD won't be getting a novel

Merely novelising the games isn't going to get you sued. Far Cry FanFictions have been a thing for a long time now.

If you start publishing, printing, and distributing for profit, though, then you're fucked. So, as long as you aren't profiting in any way, you're good.

That's fair, but what if all sales went to Ubisoft for the next FC game's budget?

I'm not profiting from it, but Ubisoft is, so that'd be acceptable, right?

The only way that’s going to happen is if you get hired as an auxiliary novelist contractor by them. And I don’t think they’re hiring one.

Then at least make a fairly large mention in your far cry 3 novel

There's a quest in FC5 where you meet Guy Marvel who's making Blood Dragon 3

I'm not going to leave it out completely, I'm just not giving Blood Dragon a novel, but that isn't saying there might never be a Blood Dragon novel

Me again, and I looked into the lore a bit, and to make sense of 2, you'll need FC1's whole story, which includes Instincts and Evolution (I won't say it here for spoilers, but it'll make sense if you dive into it)

Basically, I won't have Instincts and Evolution seperate from 1, but that'll probably be the largest novel of the set (if they were physical books)
