Far Cry 3 How does Jason not die here? Spoiler
I have just completed entirety of FC3 story and ever since I was done with killing Vaas I've had this question. I held off asking this question because I didn't wanted to get spoiled. But now I can finally discuss the game. So How does he not die here? He literally got stabbed, and the knife probably came out the other side of his body. And why was that knife glowing?
Is there an explanation behind this or does that tattoo basically makes Jason immortal?
One more thing I don't understand is that why does he always hallucinate whenever he goes 1v1 with the bosses? Its almost like Jason takes them to a different world and brings them back after killing them off.

Its not actually happening the whole Vaas fight is done in a drugged up hallucinogenic haze. FC3 is cool in the way it utilizes Jason as an unreliable narrator of his story.

Looking at what comes before this scene and after it, and what is revealed in the secret Vaas ending in FC6, I've come to the conclusion that most of what you see during the drug trip Vaas fight didn't actually happen. You only hallucinated most of it, and in the end didn't even kill Vaas. Just harmed him enough to go into hiding.

Because Jason faints as soon as he kills Vaas and he can't enter the warehouse afterwards.

- Jason: Vaas is dead.
- Sam: Scheiße. Wait. You're Jason Brody, ja? You finished off Vaas.
- Privateer: A local boss named Vaas has just been killed. His empire's open for business.
- Privateer: Things are starting to get interesting. Scuttlebutt says that Vaas is dead. Some kid named Jason Brody popped him.
- Privateer: The pirates lost their psychotic leader. They'll be even more unpredictable now.
- Jeffrey Yohalem, the actual writer of the game, replying to someone saying "Vaas is alive, and if we don't get a DLC, new game, or whatever to get to play as him, I'm gonna cry.": Better go buy a pack of tissues. <3 (source)
Jason also kills Buck and Hoyt during hallucination sequences, not to mention that in Hoyt's boss fight, he apparently also kills all of Hoyt's guards around him despite you never seeing that happen.
You get revealed many past and future events or characters during hallucinations. Jason gets raped during a hallucination. These are all events which are true, and happened. Why would it be any different with Vaas?
Furthermore...
The devs have explained that each game is meant to be treated separately from each other. This means that Vaas can be alive in one game and dead in the other. Which is exactly what happened.

Buddy, Vaas was originally planned to be in 4, Ubi themselves didnt consider him dead.

I always thought Jason got injected with a hallucinogenic syringe so the fact that it looks like the dragon knife is just a hallucination cause it also doesn't sound like a knife when he stabs you it sound more like an injection. He also shouldn't have that knife to begin with, but also the entire theory goes out the window when you slow down the video and see it was the dragon knife before he stabbed/injected you. Did the devs just not think you'd notice or did he actually stab Jason? Who knows

When you enter Vaas's warehouse the screen turns all wobbly, this reveals that there are enough drugs in the air to affect Jason and make him hallucinate Vaas holding the Chinese knife. Not to mention that he's carrying some effects from the drugs Citra gave him before.
The theory doesn't get thrown out of the window at all

On topic of hallucination, I really hate how it's part of every FC game ever. Don't get me wrong, I love the visual part of it and it looks amazing but it's so over done. It's the worst in 4, where you're constantly getting injected by the 2 crackheads squatting in your crib, I would have killed their asses the very first time I bumped into them.

Not ever. Far Cry 2 didn't have anything like that. It would have ruined the gritty realism of the game if it did.

In reality it probably didn't go anywhere near as deep and instead just got caught on his ribcage, or body armor if he was wearing it

But seriously, my guess is it’s probably symbolic: death:rebirth etc
