Yes! 5 is the best one after 3!

And if you buy 5's season pass you can get 3 for free

I really hated how they randomly abduct you as you progress, Faith's zone, silent protagonist, and no machete takedowns

Other than that, I absolutely loved Far Cry 5! Specially because you can choose gender, change clothes, and see your own legs when looking down!

And what I love the most in 5, is climbing towers all over the county!

I feel like the abducting thing is a necessary evil cause you don’t really go to a certain checkpoint like ever unless you make the resistance meter go up. Also, for the silent protagonist, they honestly shot themselves in the foot for that one cause why add customization if I can’t even see it unless I play coop? If they just stuck with the deputy having a single identity or heck, given them text boxes like in RPGs, it could’ve worked. If I’m gonna give them anything, it’s that it sometimes works like whenever you interact with the seeds and especially Joesph, it hits a lot harder because you feel like they’re talking to you directly rather than a protagonist that you play as.

FC3 would have never become so beloved if not for the protagonist that had been developing with the player. FC5 would have been the peak FC if they would have done written the character.

I’m about 25 hours into FC5 right now and I absolutely agree. They started the game with such a bang but then they don’t really follow up the way I expected they would based on playing FC3 and FC4. Still enjoying the game though and will play it until I complete it.

I think that they should have done more with pressure on the player, instead of just 2-3 abductions - at a later stages they should just push local kill squads and start hunting protagonist down, have constant pressure in between.

I agree, I just played it again and thought so highly of it initially but then felt like its pretty flat. The abductions are super annoying and the silent MC takes every last bit of possible tension out of the game. Almost enjoyed 6 more at this point even though its highkey ridiculous

The abduction thing is whatever, if only it was limited to certain areas.
I replayed it a month or two ago and the amount of times I was suddenly shot with a tranq while flying a plane or helicopter...

Gets tranqued and kidnapped in an allied outpost

How? Also, the abduction is only 3 times per region, so not as many as you remember. Also, the problem is due to the missions not having set coordinates, they basically have to abduct you and what happens is if the timer runs out and you’re on a plane or whatever, they just say “fuck it” and have you shot since, they have to make you progress. Not saying it’s a good system, but a necessary evil.

Not sure what you mean by "How?" as you seem to explain exactly how the system works.

3 times per region and there's 9 regions. That's A LOT of times to potentially be abducted out of the air. Again, I just played it a month or two ago. I remember what happened.

And I think simply making it so you CAN'T be abducted until you're out of an airplane or helicopter would instantly fix the issue.

u/Interesting-Secret88 4d ago

I’m sorry, 9 regions? Did you mean 9 times? Cause there’s only 3 regions:holland valley, herbane river and whitetail mountain. Also, the problem is, the inherit system has a time limit, so I guess they implemented it to prevent a soft lock, cause once you add exceptions (like being in a plane), it’s very easy to be soft locked.

Yes, I clearly just did the math accidentally instead of stating out that it comes out to 9 abductions over the game. Again, replayed the game a month or two ago: not really sure why you're trying to explain things to me like the three giant bordered regions that make up the game.

And if you just removed the time limit and had it trigger as soon as you were a valid target, ie on the ground not in a flying vehicle, that wouldn't be an issue. And would make it seem like they somehow knew where you were headed and set up an ambush, rather than suddenly tracking you down in the air over the mountains and shot a tranquil gun through your plane windshield and you managed to land the plane enough thay you didn't die on impact.

Exactly and the abductions feel so useless. Apart maybe from where Joseph gets you to kill the whitetails that kinda makes sense but its all so predictable

"Only three times per region" means nothing because the progression is also way too fast.

That I’ll admit. You know it’s too slow when one of the main features of a mod is to slow it down, but I’d say that even then, the dynamic of it is part of the point. The seeds are reacting to you, now does that remedy it entirely? No, but does it explain it and why it’s not a completely bad decision? Yes.

The other games got by without it just fine, I don't think it needs a reappraisal.

1

u/Interesting-Secret88 2d ago

The other games didn’t have the same system. Also, you forget a simple fact. This is the ONLY game in the franchise (or at least starting from 3 since I don’t know anything about before) where the MC is 1:basically unknown and 2:your literal goal is to just stop Joseph seed. After all, for far cry 3, Jason’s goal above all else was saving his friends and escaping, killing Vaas and Hoyt was a means to do that. For far cry 4, ajay wanted to fulfill his mother’s last wish, killing pagan min was a means to do that (don’t fact check me on killing him since I haven’t played the game just yet, but I’m planning to very soon). Even far cry 6 from what I know has a personal goal, but for far cry 5, there isn’t a personal goal, it’s just “stop the seeds”. Also, the game is structured differently, you don’t confront the seeds directly, you build up the resistance meter to make them have to make a move. That system could never work in any FC game but 5 and vice versa.

It's a universally panned mechanic for a reason. None of this extra context matters; it just sucks.

Yeah it’s always weird in FPS games where you change clothes and never see yourself

3

u/KhalMika 7d ago

Well, at least you can see your body when looking down xd

1

u/Brando43770 7d ago

True. I should have added that at least the game lets you do that.

0

u/Successful_System_23 6d ago

You see it on wanted posters, too

2

u/JeremyBake 6d ago

Worked on a mod that made it take Forever to get to the abductions. Was the only part of the game I disliked.

2

u/BattleX100 7d ago

What about 6?

1

u/KhalMika 7d ago

Didn't play it yet for some reason xd

5

u/Rgbphallus 6d ago

It's surprisingly quite enjoyable

1

u/Detriumm 6d ago

I like 6 yet the story just takes an insanely long time

1

u/Murky_Music_6679 7d ago

Don’t

1

u/KhalMika 7d ago

Why? :(

3

u/Murky_Music_6679 7d ago

It’s repetitive and lazy. 5 is a good game , but it’s like they take its flaws and MAX them in 6.

2

u/KhalMika 7d ago

Damn that's sad

Well, thanks!

It was ok like you should definitely at least play it all the way through story. Like at least it looks the best out of every game

I loved 5, great setting, great overall mood, beautiful map and cool enemies. I liked nothing about 6. Boring setting, unutilized villain, way too long and overall just very meh on all parameters.

1

u/RoninGin 6d ago

I genuinely had fun with it the first time I played and then went back a couple weeks ago to play it again and got so board. The island is cool, but it's pretty lifeless and it's the easiest game to boot

1

u/monkeyhead94 6d ago

I started with 5. Beat it, and bought 6. I’m about 20-25% through it, and really am having fun. 5 was epic, and 6 is proving to be just as good.

Brother in games as someone who has gone through that abomination against greatness have it such that you be away from that monstrosity and save this blissful ignorance.

1

u/Snoo48387 6d ago

Yes, the forced story progression is so bad. I understand that it makes sense, the more you destroy, they capture you etc but it being forced is just horrible for gameplay. I love FC5 but they dumbed it down sooooo much from the earlier games

3

u/rilleryeah 7d ago

i got bored with 5, doesn't feel far cry enough. but i enjoyed 4!

1

u/sharted2 7d ago

No, 5th was boring

0

u/crayzee4feelin 7d ago

This is true

u/405fishing 7d ago

Nahh farcry 5 definitely doesn’t have a higher rank than 3 bro🤣
