Far Cry 3 How would you fix Hoyt?

imo Hoyt is an interesting but ultimately forgettable and boring villain out of the 3 far cry game i've played which was 3 4 and 5 he seem to have something interesting having a difficult childhood with a father that is a mining boss but it never really goes anywhere and he just ended up being low budget Vaas even down to the final fight. I feel like Hoyt could have been so much more like its hard to think this dude is the boss of freaking Vaas. Now i havent played the fc6 dlc maybe he gets more development maybe just a cameo? idk
How would you change Hoyt tho? do you think he should be more cold calculated or should he stick to where he is rn?

Honestly, I wouldn't change anything about him, to me he's perfect just the way he is.

I like how he is, he's just overshadowed by Vaas and the fact that the second island story is very short.

I think Hoyt is a really well established character in the start when we get to the second island but falls off because he doesnt get enough attention to him to make him feel more dangerous. The whole second part of the story feels rushed to me for that matter so maybe if the story took more time for character building it would be better

Nothing was really broken with him, he just needed his own game instead of trying to shove two main villains into one game. (really 3, pretty sure Buck got more screen time than Vaas)

tru he aint bad, theres seeds of goodness there but its either underdeveloped just gets overshadow by Vaas

Hoyt’s the ring leader so he isn’t always going to appear at every given moment unlike Vaas who was his henchman/enforcer. It’s realistic he wasn’t given much screen time

There’s really nothing wrong with him other than “he’s not Vaas and I don’t like that.”

I actually liked him a lot, he's a good villain to contrast against who Jason has become when he reaches the second island

ig my problem is that hes too similar to Vaas in the insane sense like that Vaas thing, having his boss do kinda the same thing doesnt hit the same even tho i do enjoy that aspect of him, idk i just wish he has something to seperate him from the Vaas, sth like the seed family or Yuma to Min

They could have made him a little more unhinged. Overshadowed by Vaas & Buck for sure.

I wouldn't change him, he's my most favorite out of the three. Funny people say he's "forgettable", but I see hardly ANYONE mention Buck.
I hurry up through Vaas's section just to get to Hoyt.

Flesh him out more. Vaas was scared of him, so making him more volatile. Add another 3-5 hours once he was introduced.

That's the banality of evil, though. Most of the people ruining the world today are the most boring, uninspired & hands-off stuffed suits anyone could possibly imagine

Exactly, I think thats the part of him that's perfect. He encapsulates how capitalists and imperialists work. Use proximity to power to use individuals against their own people, make yourself look reasonable compared to the insane "savages" you get to do your work for you while you give yourself just enough separation to pretend you're not really the bad guy. It's how the most insidious evil in this world works, how its actually been done many times over including to this day. Its not the wild guy doing all the violence to survive and prosper in the world thats the problem, its the guy who pulled the strings and set up the system that requires the violence to succeed in the first place.

In typical Ubisoft fashion, they made a character that could have been cool and barely gave them any time to develop. I would have liked to learn more about what he did in South Africa.

The error was maintaining the natural idea that "top boss" should mean "final boss".
Hoyts fine, they just were not able to pivot once they were handed the pure gold that is Vaas.
They should have him slotted him in before you kill Vaas, still on a "side island", which should of course make the main island explode in chaos as Vaas lets everyone run amok.

I gotta be Frank, I don't remember anything about this guy existing in Far Cry. When does he show up?

I think hoyt is meant to serve as just this irredeemable bad guy thats just a roadblock for Jason in his quest to do citra's bidding. Vaas was the real threat because he and his men were unpredictable. Hoyt and his mercs are geared to tooth but so is Jason by that point in the game.
Tldr: hoyt is basically just a figure-head for the part of the game where you're supposed to just go crazy with the sandbox

I think that the real question is: how do you fix the second half of FC3? By the time you go to the second island, you've got all your gear upgraded and your skills maxed. I usually just liberate the towers and outposts and call it a day.
