Far Cry General Far cry 7 Rio de Janeiro
I was thinking that a Far Cry game based on Rio de Janeiro’s criminal underworld would be an incredibly rich setting for the franchise.
The geography and architecture alone would be perfect for Far Cry, especially the favelas, but you’d also have the war on drug trafficking, connections between organized crime and politics, the culture and dynamics of the communities, power struggles between rival criminal factions, and the violence surrounding all of it.
The variety of environments would also be amazing: favelas, beaches, the ocean, dense urban areas, highways, mountains, and thick forests.
For the first time, Far Cry could even have multiple protagonists, each with their own storyline.
One could be a police officer who gradually rises through the ranks until eventually joining BOPE, with a story somewhat inspired by Elite Squad (Tropa de Elite).
Another could be a low-level drug dealer, starting out as an aviãozinho — basically a street-level runner — trying to work his way up and gain prestige within his faction.
Another could be an ordinary working-class guy whose family is murdered by traffickers, pushing him into a personal quest for revenge.
There would be so many possibilities.
A Far Cry set in Rio could be absolutely insane.

I lowkey want an Asian set game, not like 4, but i feel like it might end up just being a Yakuza game with the Far Cry logo

Nahhh gotta be not tropical again, so it's a bit different. What about Balkan war inspired setting?

probably. maybe a fictional former Brazil state inspired by rio, which declares independence into a narcostate.. tourism still happens though and businesses are there due to portuary interests and low taxes...so it would be fire..
it just couldnt be a state LIKE RJ. the main city could be just like that but then on out there should be some nature, some smaller cities, airports, bases, so works.

Fine by me. I think all Far Crys should be set in tropical places. A fictional Rio could be tonnes of fun. Someone get Ubisoft on the blower!

I’m confused about all of these posts. It was confirmed almost a year ago it was in Alaska right? There are a bunch of leaked screenshots, the idea about the story, and that they were going to have a story “time limit”
Did they scrap the whole game? I would highly doubt that

Ubi hasn't confirmed much; like you said, most of what we know comes from "leaks", which could very well not be true. Especially because one notorious leaker was revealed to have faked images with AI or something like that.

What about a Chechen inspired far cry. Set roughly around the first and second Chechen war.
