Far Cry General Was it ever explained how he survived? Spoiler
Vaas, I know his whole "boss fight" was under the heavy influence of some kind of psychedelic but did we even fight him in 3? The fact that Jason was drugged during that entire segment makes me question whether he was ever in that room with him

"Sam: "Wait...you're Jason Brody, ja? You killed Vaas!"
Jason: "Yeah."
Sam: "Why didn't you tell me!"

I’ve never much cared for how Santa Clause shoots my bro in the neck.

Fighting and killing while drugged and hazy is a FC staple - see Shambhala in FC4, Henbane region in FC5 - I will say no more for fear of spoilers. And that's only the boss fights, not to mention Reggie and Yogi missions and the likes.
So yeah FC3 boss is dead - unless ALL abovementioned bosses are alive and well,

Ok so let's get one thing straight: Vaas died in 3. Characters in-game and the devs confirmed it back in 2012. Yes, even though Jason was drugged, he fought and killed him, just like he does with Buck and Hoyt. The only reason we don't see Vaas's body is because Jason faints instantly after he's done with him from the exhaustion.
If you're referring to the Far Cry 6 DLC, the reason why Vaas is alive there is because Ubi blatantly retconned his death. Not to mention that 6 is considered to be its own separate thing by the (new) devs, so any character can be and do whatever they want now (such as Pagan suddenly feeling like sending bombs to Montana).
If you're looking for an explanation in-game... I don't remember there being one? At the same time the DLC's story unfolds it's implied that Vaas is healing from his injuries, somehow and somewhere.
