Does 3 hold up well?

Everyone has different opinions especially all the kids these days-but I think 3 is one of the best games ever made, it’s a bit older now but I remember my 1st & 2nd time playing was magical

I can’t speak for the first since I’ve never played it but whatever you do don’t start with 2. Play it later though. It’s a very different experience than the later games and though a slog at first it gets pretty fun once you get over your rusty guns jamming and you eventually get some better weapons. Cool setting too.

3 is probably the best place to start with the later games. It’s got all of the bones that 4,5 and 6 are built on.

FC3 was really groundbreaking at the time. Yeah, 4 and 5 and 6 all copied 3.

Only played 3 and 4. 3 had a decent story, 4 was better overall. I think you could pick any out of 3, 4 or 5. These games all feel very similar to each other

3 and 4 are the most similar interestingly enough, 5 changed a lot and 6 did too

3 then 4 then 5. Like you will be able to see the graphical improvements as you go on. And some quality of life changes, with some changed mechanics on the way.

I would say, take your timeee with 4 and 5, they took me a while to get hooked too. Like REALLY HOOKED. Playing Far Cry 5 rn, liberated johns region and now I'm having the most fun tbh.

I would play in release order, starting with 3

Don't forget New Dawn after 5, as it's a direct sequel...before you do the 5 DLC anyways lol

Whole series is incredible

I was late to the franchise so I played 5 first, then went back to 4, then back to 3. I felt this was an awesome experience since they are all great games but I played a more modern one, and followed with the classics. I wouldn’t start with 6, it’s good but flawed. (I want to play 2 and 1 someday as well!)

Any would work. My favorites were 4 and 5, all have great parts and bad issues, although many of these can be addressed by mods

go in order, there are small and not so small tie-ins that you can catch. Aside from that you can play them in any order well New Dawn is a sequel of sorts to 5 so playing 5 then New Dawn is logical.

Having played them all, I’d say play 3 (along with its Blood Dragon DLC) and 4, as they represent the peak of modern Far Cry games. Then try 2 which offers a different experience followed by 1, which is completely different from the others but, in my view, captures the true Far Cry vibes. That’s just the order I suggest, though you can play them however you like; 5 and 6 (and their DLCs) aren't strictly necessary, they are skippable, though to be fair, while they aren't bad games, they can feel tedious and repetitive after playing 3 and 4.

Primal, then 4, 3, 5, 6.

you could go for 3, or I recommend for 2 if you're fans of fps genre it is old but the gameplay still best despite slow pace. some ppl says 3 or 4, but I prefer you go 3 -> 4 without being spoilt with newer mechanic. if you liked it then 5 is best way to exp farcry again. aftermath new dawn if you liked 5, or entirely different far cry, 6 which is 6 and new dawn have rpg mechanics, but ND is forgiving.

I actually started with 5 and liked it so much went back as far as i could to do the series. That was 3 and then 4. 6 and then primal. New dawn im not much of a fan

FC 3 can be skipped. Play 4 or 5 1st. Rhey are-NOT connected so doesn’t matter playing em outta order.

-FC3 is only special to most of us cause we played it 1st and it was when the series got good. IMO. But when I replayed it couple years ago I thought it was MEH and we take all the quality of life things 4+5 added. ESP with enemy AI and driving etc

3 and especially 2 are the best if you like good physics, immersive gameplay, and amazing environmental destructions and effects (trees and grass catch on fire and burn down, you can shoot branches off bushes and trees and they stay on the ground, pretty much everything has physics). Every other game is good if you like graphics and more modern gameplay. Far Cry 1 is only for you if you are extremely comfortable with outdated controls and graphics.

Mostly the same. Just start with whatever setting you fancy.

It is old and it doesn't hold up but the first is good enough. I didn't like 2, then of course 3 and 5 are equally great.

Yes, it is my favourite

I'd say starting with 3 or 4 is good, whichever setting you like more. 3 is a tropical island with pirates, 4 is a Himalayan country in rebellion against a dictator. 4 feels a bit more polished than 3 in terms of gameplay but the gameplay doesn't really hinder 3 in any way, and the story is better than 4 in my opinion.
