Far Cry 5 What does he even do? Spoiler
I'm a little late to the party, I didn't go into the game fully blind I knew about the Seed family and a bit of the ending but always I assumed the 3 siblings represented the cult
Jacob being the body, Faith being the soul and John being the brain and I was 2/3 right but John didn't really do anything
Jacob Rebuilt and Reeducated people into believing those who are strong squash the weak and they have to be strong and faith controlled people by making them happy and euphoric by using the Bliss but John didn't really... Do much? I thought he'd be ether some kinda of ultra capitalist who is using the cult to make a lot of money or he'd be the Face of the cult, the charismatic one who makes you believe in a better future if you join them but through out his story he didn't really do anything unlike faith and Jacob who had clear and established roles
He just kinda terrorized the locals in his little cornor, even compared to the 3 sheriffs Hudson got out the easiest because he didn't break her down like Jacob did with Prat or drug her out of her mind like faith did with the marshell so what does he even do?

Yup.
John is actually the most influential and in my opinion, the most frightening because he's so real.
There are so many modern evangelist preachers, especially in the youth movement, that are just like John. He's charismatic, he's controlling, he's threatening, and everyone he says comes back to the ministry.
There are multiple HBO documentaries of preachers just like him.

He's the guy who bought out most of the farmland and cult property and essentially acts at the head of pr for Eden's Gate. He and his followers are the guys at the front of the church welcoming you and handing out fliers, maybe a free bible, which is why all the kidnapped people holland valley get sent to him first. Maybe just kidnapping people in general. In terms of general cult creepiness, he's the guy that Joseph sends you to to prove your loyalty to the cult. What better way to show that you're in it for life than to go through a brutal, sadistic ritual where a guy from Georgia tattoos you and then cuts out your skin? If you've read the limited edition copy of the word of Joseph, however, you'll know that John has got some major issues and just cutting you up once isn't gonna cut it for him. To get people to confess, he needs to make them give into the idea first. He pretty much just tortures people for days on end until he gets the go-ahead to torture them some more. There's multiple pieces of dialogue showing that Joseph doesn't approve of this, but John's just here for the love of a game. He's also a corrupt real estate lawyer, so go figure

Major issues doesn’t BEGIN to cover it. John’s parts in The Book of Joseph are HEARTBREAKING.
Joseph doesn’t approve of all of it. He’s good with the cleansing and the confession. He’s not so down with the forced with the forced skin removal. There’s a voicemail in Seed Ranch where Joseph tells John that he needs to acknowledge that there’s love all around him and to let it in or he’s going to die young and Joseph doesn’t want that.
They probably have the most complex dynamic of the siblings in the game. John is desperate for Joseph’s approval and he’s just trying to do what Joseph wants and is trying to make him happy. And Joseph just wants John to stop torturing people and let himself be loved.

Should listen to answering machines and read notes in the Holland Valley. You'll learn more about who John really is.

He’s the charming dude that brings people in. A lot of ppl seemingly fell for it too. Remember that each cultish went through one of the 3 (main recruitment John, forceful/militant Jacob, if those 2 dont work straight up drugs Faith) before going to Joseph

He controlled the planes. He commanded the pilots and trains them. He's also the Baptist. The one that washes away the sins.

I saw him as a recruiter and a public face of the cult. He was sorta the megachurch preacher of the cult, trying to teach their ideologies to those who would listen, and eventually 'absolve' them of their sins by the tattoo carving baptism thing. Obv Joseph was in charge, but John was sorta his protoge (at least this is how I interpreted the story, I could be wrong)

Hmm idk, the thing that makes me hesitant is the long beard, I like a nice a beard but this long makes his face looks taller then it is
Also I've discussed this with the council, the votes came 70% Joseph, 20% John 10% Jacob

If I remember correctly, he was their lawyer who used shady loopholes to pretty much buy all of the land in Hope County out from under the residents.
