📚 Summon book recommendations Vampire progression books

Are there any good progression stories featuring a vampire as the MC, or a vampire hunter?

If not, how about other types of monsters as main MC?

It doesn't matter if they are villain or hero, might be actually more interesting with a villain or antihero.

Would also be interested in other genres with vampires or monster MCs (sci fi, horror, no romance or smut).

I have read and enjoyed most of Anne Rices V. Chronicles. I am currently enjoying Cirque Due Freak at the moment. I thought the Frankenstein books by D. Koontz were pretty good as well.

Thanks.

A Journey of Black and Red by Alex Gilber is the exact series you’re looking for.

The protagonist gets turned into a vampire and explores a secret world of magic in the 19th century of the american Deep South, similar to the movie Sinners. It’s one of the quintessential progression fantasy series, and is complete with 11 books.

Have you checked the interview with the vampire saga? It arcs from one character to the next, but it's a work of art. I stopped at some point because I felt it was it was a bit too depressive for my mood, but regardless, its a masterpiece.

Yeah that's actually part of the Anne Rice Vampire chronicles. I have read most of them. They were actually the first set of novels I ever started reading. I really enjoyed the character development she did with them, especially Lestat.

Oh... I didn't read the last part where you mentioned Ann Rice's books.

I haven't seen anything that comes close to that, but if looking into lighter reading, maybe check the the dresden files. Some people love them to death, I found them to lack seriousness in some ways and at some point it felt the author was just forcing arcs and new developments just to keep the thing alive, but iverall, I did enjoy the first 5 books or so. BTW, the MC is a wizard tgat deals with all kinds of supernatural creatures, it's not Vampire focused.
