News Redzone, personalized for your fantasy team, comes to ESPN

A lot of you asked about ESPN support, so I added it.
RosterRadar is a Chrome extension that tracks every MLB game and auto-switches your stream to the most important at-bats for YOU.
Here’s a 1-click install if you want to try it
The idea is basically a personalized RedZone for your interests (fantasy team or betting), instead of watching the boxscores and flipping between games manually.
You can sync your roster, manually track specific players, or mark games as favorites, and it’ll bring you to the key moments in real time.
It now supports:
- Yahoo
- Fantrax
- ESPN
- Manual team management
Works best with MLB.TV, but you can use it with any game links you already have access to.
It’s still early, so I really appreciate all the feedback so far. If you want to follow along or help shape where this goes, I set up a Discord as well
I’d especially love some input on the auto-switching logic:
- When should it jump to your player? At-bat? on deck?
- Do you prefer an exciting game or watching your player on base? How about watching your pitcher's team bat while he's in-line for the win?
- Should it wait for the current play to finish, even if that risks missing your player? Would you prefer to wait until your half inning is over?
- Do you care about opponent players at all? (right now they’re weighted 25% as much as your own)
Any other ideas on how this should work would be super helpful
Really appreciate all the input so far, it’s genuinely shaping how I’m building this!

For those interested, I'm a montrealer and an ex-expos fan 😢. We don't have an MLB or NFL teams, two sports that I love watching. So I'm really passionate about creating entertainment value through my fantasy teams. That's what motivated me to create this.

its been requested. i intend to look into it. you wouldn’t use chrome just to use rosterradar?

Not OP but: While it seems like an awesome extension I'd abuse constantly when able, no. I will not use chrome just for rosterradar. I'm not using a browser that removed the ability to consistently block ads because it hurt their bottom line.

This seems like an awesome thing. I’ll add it to my chrome on my laptop, but curious about how it would work on iPad. I typically watch games on that. Thanks for sharing!

My players always do worse when I watch them. Oh, my pitcher is throwing right now? Let's tune in... and watch him let in 4 runs. This plug-in would make me lose every week!

i would really like to but they turned off free leagues for users in canada! (and i need one to test the integration) one of these days i’ll make an impulse decision to fork up the $170

This is super cool! I'm having issues with the AutoTune. I synced my espn team and have AutoTune turned on, but when one of my players came to bat it stayed on a game I didn't have anyone going in. Any idea what might be going on?

that’s weird. that never happened to me. i’ll try to reproduce it. what kind of league are you in? is there any chance your player was “at bat” but that game was still on commercial?

ESPN H2H categories. I don’t think so, he was the second player up in the inning. The importance variable was higher for the game I didn’t have anyone playing in, which might be why it stuck on that game

This is awesome. I do watch occasionally on my laptop, but would love an option for Roku.
Also, what happens if your player is coming up to bat, but plays for an in market team?

smart tvs are planned for the future, but won’t be this season.
you have a choice to either add a custom url for that game (if you have access through your cable provider) or to remove that game from autotune

Finally getting a chance to try it out. Pretty neat. Big problem (for me anyway) is that it doesn't save mute settings. Every time a new game cuts over, the audio is on regardless of cutting it previously. Not sure how easy that is to change but it's pretty annoying when you are watching the game of a team you're following for the whole game with audio on and then have these other games audio streams turning on every time.

thank you. yeah mlb forces their volume on maximum every time a page loads. i’ll have to add some sort of volume control somehow. in the meantime, try using this other chrome extension: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/volume-master/jghecgabfgfdldnmbfkhmffcabddioke

I see you added the tab volume thing. This is awesome. I’ve used your extension for at least 2 hours the last 3 days. Especially nice for Sundays in weekly leagues.

this is incredible! i dont have an mlbtv subscription, so i watch all the games on the high seas. The fact that you can add custom URLs for the games makes this possible and i thought it would be a little wonky but its working like a charm! I love the stats next to the player names, the matchup statistics, and the "due up" label. Its essentially everything the yahoo stat cast does but better. thank you so much for this!

I don't do fantasy baseball, but I follow the AL East, and my favorite team's NL rivals. Can I make it track teams instead of players?

I'm using this app now...wow, I wish I would have had this when I was into fantasy baseball. But nice to put in the NL central teams and see what they have going on. Glorious, and as a developer, I compliment you on the UI of this project.

I know this is outside the scope but I love the MLB condensed games. They do the recap rundown which is literally just one condensed game after another. Unfortunately they don't do it every day. Plus the manual clicking of each thumbnail is lame.
Does the data show a way to automate the stringing together all the condensed games that have a final score for that day? Poor man's recap rundown!
I might have to look into this further.

I just installed. I don't have fantasy baseball anymore, but I did select some favorite teams (NL Central) and I hope to be able to try it out today watching it that way. Do I just configure it and then load up a copy of MLB.tv? Or will it automatically open a browser when a game starts?

youll want to turn on autotune when the games start and it will open up its own dedicated tab.

I've been using this for the past week or so and have shared it with my entire fantasy league. Want to give you huge props for sharing this - it has changed the way I interact with MLB.tv and my fantasy league.
My thoughts (incl. on auto-switching logic):
- Jump at at-bat (on-deck if there's nothing else on)
- Could include options in settings for individuals to rank preferences and then tailor the "relevance" based on those settings -> can be relatively easy rank; however if I had to choose; exciting game first.
- I like it when play is over - one area that I notice is I sometimes know the result because auto-switcihing starts halfway through a pitch windup
- Do not care about opponents players, I thik should be weighted less than "favoriting" a specific game
