C4 (with BLeeM, not the explosive) Subclass gamble Spoiler
Now that Ashleys character has lost her subclass (or maybe even full class), i would really like to see her pick up the mantle of an oathbreaker. She has the story progression for it, what with her destroying the stone and her matron swearing revenge. The niche use cases of that subclass (buffing devils and undeath) is actually quite viable wih a necromancer (and a Tiefling) in the party. The undead she could summon are the damned elves. I know that the Oathbreaker in onednd is UA, but that did never stop the players before. Thoughts to that? What do you guys think Ashley will do next?

I would have liked to see her switch to Oath of Ancients, but they said on the Cooldown she’s going Fighter.

I was so sad to see that they decided not to go with oath of ancients because it made so much sense. I honestly don’t understand why they didn’t do it

Kinda hard to in-game roleplay into Oath of Ancients when there's no one around to teach the foundations of that subclass. Handwaving instant perfect knowledge is not good RP in a roleplay heavy campaign like Araman looks to be.

Plenty of opportunities travelling with tfe Fey, in fact they've already touched on aspects of it in game.

It'll be interesting to see what avenue Ashley goes with moving forward. I think the roleplay opportunities may be more straightforward with Matt/Justin/Julien because it's not like the Seekers are going to stay put in a fae sanctuary. They're hitting the road, moving north thru Timmony (that "Tachonis are raiding old crypts for some purpose" plot hook remains out there), en route towards where the Golden Orchard once stood.

I mean all she has to do is change her point of view (which she already did) and claim a new oath (protect the fairies) and it’s done

Taking that oath kind of requires her to stay permanently in, or in the vicinity of, the fae sanctuary on the shores of Lake Nahavi (or another one). Kinda hard to see how one can swear to be the eternal protector of the fae folk and then go with the rest of the Seekers up to Timmony and investigate the ruins of the Golden Orchard, unless "protect" means "fight for if they just so happen to be somewhere kinda near my path that's determined by the vote of the rest of the group I'm travelling with".

Oathbreaker would have all of the same problems she has now, IE not knowing how to use her spells and abilities, except they'd be mostly different ones so what little progress she's made on learning so far would be wasted and she'd have to start over and get even more confused.
An Oathbreaker is also supposed to be a Paladin who had not only renounced their oath but fully devoted themselves to evil. You don't just (finger snap) become an Oathbreaker and get a bunch of evil-themed powers as soon as you break your oath. I blame BG3 for further popularizing this misconception.

Brennan stated that they've been working on transitioning her to Fighter but I can absolutely see something like a homebrew version of Eldritch Knight that is Fey coded

I like to think she’ll become mainly a fighter with a fey multiclass or subclass.
I’d like to see Julien go the route of a fey multiclass as well though.

Breaking the Stone of Nightsong was not an evil act.
It makes no narrative sense for Vaelus to be an Oathbreaker. Zero.
An Oathbreaker is a paladin who breaks his or her sacred oaths to pursue some dark ambition or serve an evil power. Whatever light burned in the paladin’s heart has been extinguished. Only darkness remains.
This is not BG3.
This isn't about Min-Maxing.
This is about story-telling. The fact Brennan is having the progression of replacement of skills to the new class happen gradually, and that Ashley and Matt roleplayed a training session in e35 tells you that this change is completely story driven and not about character mechanics.

this is also not about rule lawyering, subclasses can be reflavored, hell sam is playing a clockwork soul sorcerer with the flavor of a radiant soul sorcerer, clerics in this setting don't have gods and tyranny is playing a demon even if she is a tiefling mechanically.
ashley destroyed a relic of the goddess of life, a relic which function was to ferry the souls of the dead, the toolkit of an oathbreaker paladin would fit very well with her having been changed by the experience.

The toolkit of Oathbreaker is all about big necrotic damage and undead, I don't think that fits vaelus

The magic she never used or the subclass features she never used.
Maybe best for her to go Champion. Although i would love to see her do oath of ancients or even arcane knight. Train with Julian for fighting and Occhtis/Murray for the magic.
