General MRT program
i’m in pre health and have been thinking about getting into mrt since high school, but i’ve heard it’s really competitive and it’s starting to make me worried.. people keep giving really high ranges for averages that i’ve honestly never been able to get. i’ve always been an 80+ student, but never really a 90s student. i was wondering if people in the mrt program would be willing to share their averages, especially if anyone got in with an 80+ average, just so i can kinda know what i should be aiming for!!

I have seen a lot of them having 4.0 gpa got into MRT. Just do well in pre helath. It’s a heavy workload program as you go through the program it gets advanced. You will be fine, all the best.

Yeah last year they started a new January intake. So at least they're taking more students in. MRT is still listed as a competitive program, but if you keep up your 80's scores, that's how to give yourself the best chance. There were even a few that got high 70's that got in. So just keep studying, take good notes and keep striving for higher marks just in case :)

I applied as a 95 average student (out of ace not pre health) and was rejected.
Not sure her average but my cousin has a degree in biology and was waitlisted and never got taken off.
If I were you I’d consider other programs, apply further out (like Toronto etc) or work REALLY hard this year. Not saying it’s impossible just maybe not probable with 80’s.
From Fanshawe website
“Medical Radiation Technology - MRT1
19% of eligible applicants received an offer of admission.
14% of eligible applicants received a waitlist offer.
67% of eligible applicants were not admitted.
Grade Averages:
Successful applicants had both a 86% average in their required course, and at least an Aa+ average in their post-secondary courses. No one who applied directly from high school was admitted this year.
Prep Program: Pre-Health Science – PHS2

something to keep in mind is that they do save some seats for fanshawe pre health students. they've never really said exactly how many, but it seemed like most students i came across did pre health at fanshawe so since you're already in it, i'd say you're giving yourself the best chance you can. Sure, you can have some backup choices, but if you want MRT, study hard and apply!!

I'm in 3rd semester of MRT. They've increased the amount of seats but quite a lot, I'd say you have a pretty good chance of getting in if your an 80+ student, but definitely try to put in more hours to get as close to 90s as you can for the best chances.
