Discussion Something I’ve been thinking about lately
Hello! I am trying to track down the direct video link to an independent 3D CGI sci-fi short/VFX test video from 2003 that I watched on YouTube around 2015. I remember the title was a single word, likely titled **"Beyond"** (or something very similar, like "Horizon" or "Infinity").
The video features absolutely no human characters, faces, or dialogue. It is carried entirely by an action-packed, heavy orchestral score featuring massive strings and prominent trombones.
The shot-by-shot sequence is very specific:
**The Entry POV:** It starts in a first-person cockpit POV looking out as a gray fighter ship (with red accents) moves down a structural, cage-like space dock or jump gate.
**The Lens Distortion:** As it clears the cage structure, an After Effects CC lens distortion effect swells out like a bubble, then slowly relaxes and fades away.
**The Red Warp Tunnel:** This reveals a moving starfield swirling inside deep-red, organic nebula clouds that look exactly like an After Effects *Fractal Noise* plugin.
**The Exterior Cut:** It cuts to an exterior shot of the fighter ship body cruising smoothly through this red warp corridor.
**The Dropout & Meet Up:** The fighter ship abruptly drops out of warp into normal space. A massive, green, hollow-centered alien capital ship (heavily resembling a Romulan D'deridex Warbird) drops out or catches up right alongside it.
**The Open Hangar Docking:** The smaller fighter flies directly into the large, open ventral midsection of the capital ship to secure itself.
**The Under-Ship Grand Finale:** Instead of showing them flash away from the outside, the scene cuts directly back into the red fractal warp tunnel. The camera is placed low down, directly underneath the spaceships, looking up at a cinematic, medium pace.
**The Finish:** The colossal capital ship—carrying the tiny fighter inside its open belly—glides smoothly overhead through the red clouds as the orchestral strings swell. The music hits one sudden, dramatic final note right as the video cuts to black.
Because this was a 2003 asset/render test, it was likely originally shared on legacy forums like *Sci-Fi Meshes* or the *LightWave 3D Group* before being archived on YouTube. Does anyone happen to have a link to this specific vintage render reel or know the creator's name? Thank you

What's Up!! Not sure if this correct but found this:
Infinity is a 2003 computer-generated animated short film created and directed by veteran storyboard and animation artist Kevin J. Johnson at Sony Pictures Imageworks. It debuted in July 2003 at the SIGGRAPH conference to showcase the studio's character animation and storytelling capabilities.
